1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss.

Don’t you wish you could do that literally! In today's climate it is not too wise to go about greeting each other with a physical kiss, but we can still do something.

A holy kiss is a greeting which shares true Godly love with others. Nowadays, stopping and checking if someone is coping instead of just sharing a wave will go so much further.

Change the way you do things today to include more people in what you are doing – even if you do it at arms length!

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Do you have outstanding issues with a neighbour? How about going out there today and seeing if peace is possible.

Being able to share a hug with people may not be possible this Christmas, but we can still share peace with others from a distance.

One of the joys of Christmas is being able to share peace with others – wars have stopped to share peace... you can do it!

Luke 7:36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.

What would you do if a high priest invited you for a meal... from a religion which you did not believe or follow!

Jesus knew the Pharisee’s ways, but He still went to be with him – knowing He would get a chance to share the gospel as He knew it!

Sometimes we do have to mix with the wrong people to bring light into their lives – it does not mean we have to follow them or to believe them...

Use every moment God gives you to the fullest extent!

Luke 7:28 I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.’

For Jesus to lift up John into such a position shows how much He knew of the kingdom of God and those who are called to tell of it.

Jesus knew just how important the message was John was telling, but He also knew how John had left the worldly pleasures behind to focus on what is important.

Don’t get caught up in the world; rather get caught up in telling people about Jesus, about His good news!

Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’

Will you be ready when God calls you? Will you be ready to answer the call when God asks for a volunteer?

We don’t have to be the most outstanding citizen to be a minister – God calls us because of what we are, what we have been through and the insight it gives us for His work!

God is not going to force us into a position of ministry; He wants us to step forward with willing hearts and say, “yes Lord!”

Luke 1:24 After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion.

When Gabriel had visited Zechariah and Elizabeth and promised them a son, Elizabeth's reaction to getting pregnant at that age was to shut herself off from everyone.

When God answers your prayers – what do you do? I know from experience I tend to shut myself off from telling people... and I’m not sure why!

Maybe it is the realisation I had doubt and don’t want to admit it!

God wants us to share our answered prayers to allow others to have hope too!

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free

When Jesus got the scroll of the prophet Isaiah handed to Him in the temple, He turned to these words and read them out loud (Isaiah 61)

Jesus came to freely hand out the gospel to anyone who was willing to listen, something He has asked of us too.

We cannot help everyone, the poor, the prisoners, the blind, and the slaves... but we can give them the gospel which will allow them to be set free, just as we are free in God.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

One thing I have learned to do is to try and focus on God rather than on the world...

When we focus on the world, we see all the horrors and evil which surround us – this can be very unsettling and worrying for us.

When we focus on God, we are able to see the world in a new light and work things out with a comfort we will never get from any earthly things.

Allow God to help you every day to put up with the extraordinary!

1 John 5:9 We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.

We tend to believe what we hear on the news – but sometimes what we hear is not the truth, yet we still tend to believe it when we hear it!

When we find out it is not the truth, we get disheartened and turn away from supporting those people who told us the lies.

God never lies, always tells us the truth and we need to depend on that truth more in our lives – so we will never be disappointed again!

Galatians 4:8 Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods.

Do you ever think how much you do just because other people do things, or just because it’s there!

We are constrained by so many things in this world and we live by those constraints all the time.

Now is the time to let go of those constraints and live for God, because we now know Him and we can love Him openly!

Isaiah 11:6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.

When we finally see the kingdom of God, we are going to be a bit perplexed when we see the interactions between those we see as enemies or rivals.

In God’s kingdom there will be no more fighting, no more death and no more need for the ways we have grown up with.

God wants us to see the hope we have as something which we yearn for even though we may see it as a bit alien now.

Colossians 3:11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

If ever there was a statement from God telling us we are all important to Him, this would be it in my eyes!

No matter what race, colour, creed, whatever, we are all God’s children, and He wants us all to join Him in Heaven...

This is where the choice comes to us – do we go the way of the world and sink in our sins, or do we rise in Christ’s light and favour!

Colossians 3:5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

How do you focus on love when you are surrounded by evil, hate, greed and all manner of strange things?

God gives us freedom from these things by allowing us to effectively put those things to death in our lives.

If they are not living in us, they will not overflow from our lives and fill other people's lives.

Fill your life with love so it overflows into other people's lives!

Romans 14:1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarrelling over disputable matters.

Have you ever gone into a church and been put off because the people have frowned upon you for not wearing the best suit or dress, or not bringing a big shiny bible with you?

I thank God I live with people who do not judge others by how they turn up to church – we are all different and Christ accepts us the way we are!

Yes, Christ wants us to change in some ways, but not in man's ways, in His ways!

Be a loving, inclusive Christian!

Luke 12:33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

What would you do if your were asked to sell everything and give it all to the poor people in your community?

That is a very hard pill to swallow if you are totally focused on your wealth – even if you set aside a certain amount to give to the poor!

God tells us it is the love of money which is evil, and if we cannot let go of that love for money, we cannot truly have a complete love for Him at the same time.

Matthew 4:24 No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Sometimes we focus too much on getting our business right and leave God out of the picture...

God is in everything we do and knows our struggles and our needs – if we are willing to keep Him close to us, we will benefit from Him being able to help us more!

Take a deep breath, stop your business, and see what God wants you to do in order to succeed.

Luke 10:39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.

How busy are you today? How many things do you have on your to-do list which are still outstanding?

God demonstrated rest to us by having a day of rest after working 7 days; the same regime He asked the people to keep...

We do need rest. We cannot keep going without rest. At those times of rest, we also need love and support.

God’s Word gives us the encouragement we need in our down-time. Stop and listen...

Luke 1:45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises to her!

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s voice, the baby in her womb jumped for joy!

This is the same joy we can have when we hear the Word of God. This is the same Christ!

When Christmas does finally arrive, are you going to make sure you have an open invite for the Lord Jesus to come into your life?

Will you stand and wait for Him at your door?

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

God wants you to open up your heart and home to someone else today.

God knows how much you desire; He is asking you to give some of what you desire to others who do not have anything.

It is not a big thing to give up a luxury to give someone a necessity!

Share something with someone today...

Luke 6:37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

How often do you label people just because they did one thing wrong? Imagine how many labels God could give you for all you have done wrong!

We all do things wrong and we all fall short of the ideal way of life. This means we don’t have the right to judge others who fall short of the ideal way of life either.

Some people may not have the inner strength you have and they give in more because it is easier for them.

Stop and help someone today!
