Luke 1:37 For no word from God will ever fail.

No matter what goes on in this world and no matter how far we stray from God’s Word, nothing will change the truth and what God can do!

We have a God who has promised us much and delivered so much more than we expected.

We have a God who continues to make sure His Word remains the truth and continues to give us hope in our world.

Everything is possible with God – make sure you stand on the right side of the fence!

2 Timothy 2:7 Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.

How often do you rush in to do things before thinking things through?

I know I have got into trouble before because I have leapt in to fix things without concerning myself with the consequences and have had to pay afterwards!

God wants us to stop and think before we act; this does not mean putting things off until you want to do them but doing them with thoughtfulness!

Will you decide to step forward and help someone today?

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

No matter where we live, the evil one is going to try and trip us up at every point he can – just because he can and wants to discourage us!

When we accept Christ into our lives, we are sealed as children of God and nothing can change that...

If we go back to our old ways, we are going to have a terrible time of being discouraged and doubting every step we take. This is not God letting us down but us listening to the world instead of to God.

Stop and think who you are listening to...

2 Samuel 24:17 When David saw the angel who was striking down the people, he said to the Lord, ‘I have sinned; I, the shepherd, have done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall on me and my family.’

What do you do when people get into trouble around you? Do you stand back and blame them for doing wrong or do you wade in and try to help?

God wants us to be the kind of people who will wade in and share the burden on people’s shoulders.

Christ is our Shepherd who stepped forward to take the blame in our stead because He wanted to!

Will you step forward and help someone today?

Isaiah 50:4 The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.

I had to use this verse today when I read the words... I have not been given a well-instructed tongue! I do say the wrong things at the wrong time, time and time again!

But each day I get up and write another devotion because God encourages me to share from my heart as I try to listen to His instruction as I read His Word.

We are now in a month of lock-down in the UK and I continue to reach out with God’s love to everyone who is willing to listen... this comes from God’s Word, filtered through my heart.

2 Timothy 2:12 if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us;

Paul wrote very encouraging letters to Timothy, but each letter had dire warnings about the hard times ahead too.

The one thing which remained most important to Paul was to continue to have faith in Christ and His teaching.

Paul always tried to encourage others to have faith in Christ, knowing Christ would be ruthless to those who chose to side against Him.

Our words are important to others, just as Paul’s words and even Timothy’s words to those around him too.

Revelation 1:8 ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.’

If we look back in history, we can see so many instances when thousands of people died for seemingly no reason other than natural disasters or health reasons.

We may ask: Where was God during those times?

God was with us, is with us and will continue to be with us every step of our lives; through the good times and the bad times.

God will always be – we just need to choose whether we walk with Him or not...

Isaiah 32:25 I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

Our world may well be in turmoil as the pandemic continues to spread and wreak havoc in many nations, but our God remains faithful and just throughout everything.

Our God alone can forgive and forget our sins – just as He has promised and continues to do when we come to Him humbly and truthfully.

Allow God to care for you and carry your burdens as the way grows dim and your weight heavier each day.

Revelation 21:5 He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’

God told us, through the prophets, (see Isaiah 43:19) He is going to change everything so we can live with Him eternally.

How could this be if He hates sin? The only way it to make it as if we had never sinned in the first place...

This could only be done though the ultimate sacrifice where a perfect person would give His life in our stead...

That man is Jesus Christ!

Ephesians 3:7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.

Christ has asked each of us, personally, to continue to spread the gospel...

We may not have heard that request because of the noise the world has surrounded us with... We may not have heard it because we were too busy doing something else...

Stop for a while and pray for someone you know who needs help.

It is because of God’s grace we are here and able to bathe in His Word – help to spread it a bit today...

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’

On, what some see as the darkest night of the year, we need to shine our brightest to allow people to see Jesus as being the true Light of the world.

We don’t need to conform to the ways of the world to encourage people to find Jesus – we need to be different and show people hope!

I love seeing crowds of people each holding up a small light because, together, they are very visible and a beautiful sight to see.

Be different and shine your little light!

Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

When you asked Christ into your life, you began to be filled with the best seasoning on the planet!

It is amazing what a little salt or spice can do to a meal which would otherwise be bland. As Christians, God is calling us to be this little pinch of salt in people’s lives.

We don’t have to be world leaders to change the world – just like a pinch of salt makes a bit difference to a meal, so will the little things we do make a big difference for others and for God!

Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Who has upset you over the past few days? Who has done something which has brought out the worst in you?

How about looking at it another way? What things do you allow to bring out the worst in you?

If we can change the attitude we have toward other people by sharing God’s love with them instead of hating them, we could brush many more things off instead of drowning in them...

Colossians 1:17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Christ has been with us from the beginning and will be with us through the end. Everything exists because the Trinity has deemed it so – Jesus being part of that Trinity.

Despite His comparatively short life as a human being, Jesus has and will always exist throughout time.

But, He took time out to come to earth as a human, to live and die as one of us, so we can have a perfect sacrifice given to cover all of our sins, once and for all!

1 John 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

We have this amazing gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus; but we do have to accept the gift otherwise it is just another box...

What do you do with your gifts at Christmas time? You open them!

As young children we may have had difficulty in knowing how to open the presents – we have many Christians around us who are willing to help you and show you how.

Don’t be in awe of the decorated box, open it and see the even greater gift within!

Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

We have the written words of many people who were witnesses to Jesus living on earth, all of whom lift Him up as being the Son of God.

We have the written witness of many miracles and wonderful things Christ has done and said, all for our good and for our futures.

Let us hold firmly to this written word, God’s Word, our Bibles, so we can be more sure of the future God has in store for each one of us.

Romans 3:3 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?

We look at our faithfulness, or our lack of faith, and we conclude God’s faithfulness may have flaws or limits... This is the human way of thinking!

God’s faithfulness is as certain as promises which have been carried out – as certain as fulfilments of prophecy.

It is true we doubt, but God has no need to doubt because He knows all things; even with this knowledge He chose to be faithful!

What an awesome God we have!

Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!

If you knew before-hand a particular speed camera was going to be switched off, would you speed past that point just because you can?

The laws are given for us to follow, not because the authorities want to trip us up, but so we have a safer environment to live within.

God’s laws were written down to protect us spiritually and mentally as well as physically.

Just because Jesus has already died for our sins does not give us the right to go and do anything we like now!

Romans 8:23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

Sometimes I have to read through a verse a few times before it sinks in – and much of the book of Romans is like that for me!

When we accept Christ into our lives, He imbues us with the Holy Spirit as our constant guide. The more we listen, the more we learn and the better off we are.

But if we continue to ignore our guide, we should not expect to know much when we get to the end of our tour!

Be constantly listening and obeying!

Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

It is not because we can follow God’s commandments that we get to go to Heaven. It is not because we are teachers of these commandments. It is not because we wrote them down...

It is because we have recognised our sin because we read or heard the commandments which has allowed us to ask for forgiveness from God.

Jesus died so we can be guaranteed forgiveness when we ask for it though our conviction.
