Exodus 4:14 So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and He said: “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
This is not just about not believing that you can do anything through God who strengthens you, this is about trusting and believing that God will do what He has promised!
When God gives you the idea to go out and do things for Him, He is going to make sure that you can do things even when you think you cannot.
Moses thought he could never be a leader because of his problems with his speech; but God had already made the plan, he just had to have faith!

Jonah 1:15 So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging.
We have to always be aware that when God asks something of us, we need to answer and do it! Not just think about it, not just talk about it, not have another meeting to discuss it, but to do it!
Jonah knew he had done wrong and knew that God was on his case because of that. His only response he could think of was to allow God to take him.
We do not have to let things get that far that the only course of action is total defeat. God wants us active and working with Him not totally passive and useless.

Mark 14:6 But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me.
When the disciples thought that someone was not doing what they should have done, they got a bit upset and started telling Jesus what they thought.
What Christ did in return was to berate them for judging what was good practise in their own eyes. Jesus loves a cheerful giver and we are the ones who take what is in our own hearts and give to God.
Each of us do things in our own ways and it is God who has the say over what is right and not us!
Trust Him to show you what is required, not man!

2 Chronicles 6:8 But the Lord said to my father David, “You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name.
This is one of those verses that we need to read in context to find out the deeper meaning. On the surface it is just God telling David He was pleased that David wanted to build a temple.
But when we dig a bit deeper we find out a few secrets; the first being that David was not the one to build the temple because of the sin in his own life.
The second being that God was showing David forgiveness by allowing him to continue to plan and gather everything required for that temple build.
God wants us to grow and not to be held back by the sin in our past.

2 Corinthians 8:12 For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.
Have you ever felt that you don’t give enough to the church or to God? Have you ever wondered if you should be doing more?
We all go through this guilt at some stage or another, but God is not expecting us to give above what we are able. This is something I have struggled with in the past as I try to give everything!
God loves us and He knows our circumstance. As long as we are willing we will find giving is easy; but don’t get stressed about not doing enough because you haven’t got enough!

2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
We are called to be servants of God, but if we are not going to do so willingly then we are saying that we are slaves.
I think most of us have grown up knowing what slavery is nowadays and we would not like to be slaves to anyone; but there are many people who still are, even in this modern world.
God wants us to come forward willingly to work for Him, just as we would willingly give money to people who need it or to the church to help with its running.
God does not want us as slaves. He overcame that for us.

Judges 5:2 When leaders lead in Israel, When the people willingly offer themselves, Bless the Lord!
When Deborah was the force behind the change at that time, she encouraged people to back those that were working for God.
Does that sound a bit like saying, bless God when others do? Well it should because revival has to start somewhere…
If someone else is brave enough to stand up and tell others about God then you should be right there by their side lifting up the name of God with them!
Don’t wait for others to make a difference. You can!

Psalm 110:3 Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth.
It is God who pulls us all together as one people. It is God who is looking out for every single one of us. It is God who is our shepherd, keeping us, guiding us, feeding us.
Right from when we were first reborn into The Spirit, we have been in His charge and should have been listening to Him.
But just as a new-born lamb does not have full control of listening to its parent, nor do we. We have to learn how to listen to and obey God.
Do not turn your back on Him otherwise you will miss the instruction!

Ephesians 2:9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
One of our biggest problems in life is that we all seem to want everyone else to know just what we get up to. I am talking from experience here and not judging others!
I do like others to know what I get up to even though I say I don’t! God has given me a love for taking His Gospel out to young people and so I want others to know that.
But let us not boast of our own doing but rather of the strength, might, power, wisdom and love that God can display through us and not of us.
Without God, we have nothing.

James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
Sometimes I love being called a man of faith and other times I wonder how people can call me that… Why?
Because there are times when I do not “do the works” even though I tell others of what has to be done.
I know that God loves and supports me, but He also needs me to stand up and be counted as someone who will do the work and not just say that it has to be done!
Are you actually doing things instead of just talking about it?

Matthew 8:19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
I wonder if you have made such a statement to God; saying that you would follow Him no matter what.
And if you have, how many times have you turned aside and done your own thing instead of following God every step of the way!
We are human and we make mistakes… but when we come forward and tell God that we want to be able to follow Him, we must be willing to do exactly that.
We must be willing to drop everything that is not of God and follow Him! Are you ready?

Daniel 2:47 The king said to Daniel, ‘Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.’
Daniel was another man who was willing to set his own life aside so that others would see that he wanted to serve God and God alone.
It takes a giant leap of faith to be able to step forward and put your life on the line just because you want others to know about God.
It takes a whole lot of trust to place your life on the line for others to see how you trust your God.
Both Ruth and Daniel stepped forward to be counted of God. Will you?

Ruth 1:16 But Ruth said, “Don’t press me to leave you and stop following you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God.
What an amazing statement of faith by Ruth! In the ten years that she had spent with her husband, brother-in-law and mother-in-law she had learned about God.
Now she was standing firm and bringing glory to God; she wanted to be counted as one of God’s children just as she saw in Naomi.
Faith, respect and dependence all rolled up into one sentence that would speak volumes to the rest of the world.
Let us make a statement like Ruth, that we may be seen as humble, loving, kind, dependable and unmoving.

Luke 7:26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
Jesus did not describe John the Baptist as an ordinary person but rather as “more than a prophet”!
That means that God held Him up as much more than just a person who was willing to go out and spread the Gospel.
God did not require that John was able to do many miracles or that he was a charismatic man who drew great crowds because of how he dressed or spoke…
God required a simple man to step forward and speak the truth.

John 10:41 Then many came to Him and said, “John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true.”
Too many times we look up to find people that do extraordinary things so that we can follow them. We idolise people because of what they can do rather than who they are or what they stand for!
The same is true for many people in church as well; they are seeking a church leader who is charismatic or can do wonderful things rather than seeking someone who is willing to share God’s Word with them.
God wants us to be sharers of the Gospel, thereby being doers as well.

Matthew 11:11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
When Jesus said these words, I am sure there were many who did not like them; much the same as today there are many who don’t like being called sinners!
Jesus pointed out that no matter how great John the Baptist was, no matter how much he preached and baptised people, he was still just a man like us.
When we believe in Christ we have a sure hope, but it is only a hope until we are actually with Christ in heaven!
Believe. Trust. Hope. Wait. Be patient, Christ is still working with us!

Matthew 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,
Do you enjoy telling others about Christ? It is hard for some people to go out and talk openly about Christ, not just because of persecution but just because that is the way they are.
We all like to have an easy life that we can enjoy; but that is not what God has told us we should expect!
John faced a hard life as he told people about the coming of Christ. That did not stop him though. He followed God’s plan all the way and gave all the glory to God!

1 Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
What a privilege it is to know God. What a privilege it is to share God. What a privilege it is to be called a servant of God!
Many people strive to become a great leader or a great scholar or lead lives that they think will bring them fulfilment and yet they are always seeking and searching.
When we live for God we have that truth already and we no longer have to seek something new.
I am most happy when I am able to share God’s Word with others; let us start doing that right now!

Psalm 119:9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
We can come up with all sorts of rules and regulations by which we think we can improve our lives, but it is only the truth that will actually do that.
No matter how much we learn from scholars and friends and family, nothing will make us grow as much as God’s Word can and nothing will show us the way to heaven.
God’s Word alone contains the truth that will set us free, whether we hear it spoken to us, read it from a bible or have it revealed through other means – God’s Word sets us free!

Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
There is nothing like the truth to undo us from the inside out and it is God’s Word that brings us to our knees!
Isn’t it amazing how so many things in life can annoy us and make us mad, but it is the truth itself that breaks down all those walls that we build up?
God has made sure that His Word has been recorded for our good. It is the truth. It has stood from the beginning. And it is what will set us free from our lives of sin!
