Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
When white washing comes out of the washing machine on a bright sunny day, it always seems to look that bit brighter and makes things around look better.
Just like the bright white snow will make all else seem black and white in comparison, when Jesus washes away our sin, the world around takes on a new complexion.
There is no depth or height that will ever stop God’s forgiveness from reaching you when you come to Him.
Smile and fall into His arms.

Mark 3:28 Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;
One of the most amazing things about Christ is that He will forgive each and every sin that is brought to Him for forgiveness. There is no sin that is too great for Him to forgive other than disbelief itself.
We do get all tied up in knots when we do things wrong and we don’t think that anyone will forgive us; but Christ can, will and does!
What an awesome God… but I do have to be reminded of this sometimes when I sink into a dark place when I have sinned.
Don’t continue hiding but bring it before Christ and enjoy life with Him!

Luke 21:34 Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.
There is a lot more that we have to take care of other than making sure we are fit, having a party and living to the max!
Our bodies are vessels in which our souls live. It is the soul that we have to take care of because that is what God has created and what will live forever.
Excessive eating and drinking may feel good at the time but imposes a great stress on our bodies which gets us (our souls) down and we need much more to bring us out of those downers.
Focus on where we will end up with our souls and not where our bodies will end up…

Proverbs 25:14 Whoever falsely boasts of giving is like clouds and wind without rain.
If you want to go down the route of boasting about all the good things that you do when you have not actually done them, you are following in the footsteps of the evil one.
If you promise all manner of great or good things and never actually deliver on those things, then you are doing exactly what Satan does to us every day.
Just as Satan tempted Christ in the wilderness, we too will be tempted to follow his lies and deception. Look at them as being those clouds that never bring rain… useless and empty!

Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
One of the best thing about having true friends is seeing them get involved in your life with others. If someone does something good to me, I know my true friends will take note and respond accordingly.
When I moved from Africa to England I lost contact with a lot of good people; slowly but surely I am getting back in contact with them and amazingly seeing how God has changed each of them.
God it at the centre of all of our lives; give Him the control He deserves as He tries to encourage us all to live together in His arms!

Psalm 22:22 I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you.
We often think about how we should tell others about Christ, how we should go out to the unbelievers and spread the Gospel and how we should get more people into church…
But what about the people who are already in churches; many of them need encouragement and support. Far too often people ignore what is in front of them for the bigger picture.
Talking about God to people in your church may sound like it should be the normal thing to do, but how much of that is actually done between fellow worshippers?

Jonah 2:9 But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, “Salvation comes from the Lord.”
Have you ever thought of your praise to God as being a sacrifice that you are willing to make?
I know it seems a strange thought at first, but are you really willing to drop your worldly things and just give God the glory; and not just when you want to but right now!
It should not be up to us to choose the right moment to lift praise to God. It should not be something we only do in church. Change your song today and lift it to God, all day.
It is Christ who has done everything for us. He alone deserves praise, always.

Jonah 2:8 “Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own Mercy.
When Jonah found himself alive and inside the belly of the fish I’m pretty sure that he knew that God was not messing around anymore! Is it going to take something like that for us to make a move?
God continues to try to work with us and we continue to make excuses and follow vain things in our lives; God wants us to focus on His will.
Jonah had no problem understanding now that following his own ways was worthless and vain; the result of which was to disregard what God could do in his life!
Allow God to work in your life. Listen!

Habakkuk 2:18 “What profit is the image, that its maker should carve it, the moulded image, a teacher of lies, that the maker of its mould should trust in it, to make mute idols?
Buying in to something that someone else is proclaiming to be god is just as bad as making something up yourself; only that you are trusting in someone else’s lie instead of your own.
Making an idol is a lie. You cannot make gods. Believing someone else can make gods is just as bad.
But we all do lift up many things in our lives all the time! We lift up people, we lift up man made things, we lift up ideas… and we look to them instead of looking to God at times… which makes them idols!

Isaiah 41:29 Indeed they are all worthless; their works are nothing; their moulded images are wind and confusion.
The person who claims deity in an idol is looked at as being worthless; as is their idol that has been crafted by man’s hands. It is vain to think we can create a god!
The stuff that people do for their gods and the stuff they claim is of their gods all concludes in nothing in the end because it is nothing.
Idols and false gods just bring confusion to our own minds and nothing else. Leave them behind and aim for God alone!
Following idols is as easy as following gusts of wind, and about as useful as well…

Psalm 97:7 Let all be put to shame who serve carved images, who boast of idols. Worship Him, all you gods.
It still amazes me how people can make something and then worship it; even if they make something that they think looks like their god and then worship them through that statue…
But such is the need of man to look for something tangible to direct their attention toward.
Our bibles make it quite clear that there can only be one God and that God has in fact created everything around us; if we are willing to accept that one thing then surely we cannot make anything replace God.
Never accept second best when we can have God in your life!

Deuteronomy 23:5 Nevertheless the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam, but the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.
I love the way that there are always positive things inside every place where we are told of the negative sides of being a Jew or a Christian. Here in Deuteronomy where the law is explained we are reminded of God’s love for His people.
Balak called for Israel to be cursed, but God put a blessing in the mouth of Balaam instead. God ordained that, not Balaam.
God continues to make sure that His people are looked after just as He has promised and continues to uphold.
Never doubt that God is on your side if you because He has been there from the beginning and will continue to be there forever more.

Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!
When Jesus looked out over Jerusalem it was a very different picture that he saw that what we would see; we would see the world, buildings, structures, people for their outward appearance…
God sees us from the inside, from what is in our hearts, not just today but always…
We see things here and now. God sees things without the limit of time. The choice we make now in our hearts will affect everything that He sees from this moment onward!

Psalm 81:13 Oh, that My people would listen to Me, that Israel would walk in My ways!
How many people do you know that profess to be Christians and yet they only act like it on Sundays or whenever they are in a church building?
I am not asking you to judge others but rather to take a reflective look at how you are and what you do in your own life; I know I have plenty of faults!
God would rather we listened to Him than rush around doing stuff in this world thinking that we do things for God. Stopping and listening can be difficult, but fully rewarding, always!

Deuteronomy 5:29 Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!
I often used to think that I had to sort myself out and that when I did do that, God would be more willing to take me in; but that is not the case!
God is willing to accept us in whatever state we are in as long as we come to Him in repentance and humility. He then gives us the opportunity to change so that we can be more like Him.
He gives us the chance to keep His commandments and take His Word and keep it in our hearts; that way He has more to work with!

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Learning bible passages is actually quite important. If we treat God’s Word like we do any other novel or story, we will tend to put it aside and move on with our lives.
But if we take it in, think about what God is actually trying to tell us, and then hold on fast to that new knowledge, we will be in a much better place with God.
Joshua was given these words of wisdom when they were facing many wars with the Canaanites; God was telling Him to trust in Him and remember all that He had already done for them throughout history.

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.
These words are echoed in a few places and show the deep understanding that existed between the author and God.
When we do study our bibles we gain a new insight into the things of God as well as a beginning of understanding of the ways of God. We continue to learn and grow in God as we continue to study His Word.
As we grow we begin to understand how important it is to live by His rules and to give Him praise continually for all He continue to do for us.

Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Whilst we may wish to cover the sins of someone else, covering our own sins is wrong. Why so? Because covering someone else’s sins is showing them mercy, whilst covering your own is deceit.
Christ alone has the power to cover other people’s sins once and for all whereas we can forgive people of their sins toward us, but not toward God.
When we do open up our lives and confess our sins before God, He is able to forgive them and will forgive them. What an awesome God!

Psalm 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.
What an amazing thing, that God is willing to forgive us of the things we do wrong when we bring them to Him with open hearts!
This has been given to us in so many ways by so many eye witnesses that we must never take it for granted or water it down in any way.
God is a forgiving God. He wants to forgive us. We need to be honest with Him. We need to confess to Him!
How many more people must be forgiven before you come forward?

Romans 4:2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
What should we ever have to boast about? Maybe we have made it big in the business world, or the pop world or just recognised as the best…
But that is nothing before our God. Nothing before our creator. Nothing before the one who made us in the first place!
We can look back at the great people from the bible and marvel at what they did, but nothing stands out more than what God has done for us.
Give God the glory!
