Psalm 5:1 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.
Just as we get to know Christ, He too gets to know us; not that He is lacking in knowledge but rather our relationship grows.
God is listening to all of our prayers, even those flippant ones which we throw up “just in case”.
But it is those that we meditate on that make all the difference.
Ask with courage. Ask with purpose. Ask from your heart. Ask knowing that God is listening.

Psalm 25:4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.
Waiting on God can be difficult if you are a person who has always had their own way!
Being patient enough to wait for God to show you the right way instead of trying what you think is best can be difficult for an entrepreneur.
How do you know what is best if you are bogged down in the world?
Lift up your heart by getting back into reading a little more of God’s word each day.

Proverbs 20:24 A man’s steps are of the Lord; how then can a man understand his own way?
When we open our eyes to see just how much God is in control and how much He has done for us, we should be standing in awe!
When we try to do too many things at once we fall flat on our faces or we lose control of all that we are doing; that’s just because we are limited.
But God is not limited and continue to hold this world and this universe together through His own might and power!
How can we hope to ever understand what is going to happen next, never mind what to juggle next! Leave it to God!

Jeremiah 10:23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
Sometimes the harder we try to fix something the bigger the mess that we seem to make of it all! I get that a lot!
We have a very long way to go before we can understand fully where we have actually come from and where we are going. Scientists get in bigger muddles the more they think it through and Christians get caught up in those conflicts…
If we say that we believe God then we should do exactly that. Trust that what He has told us is the truth and accept it; don’t try analyse it through!
God accomplished… that’s it!

Proverbs 16:9 A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
Listening to God does not just mean sitting in church and listening to all the sermon…
Listening to God does not just mean listening to an audio rendition of the bible…
Listening to God does not just mean hearing what He is saying…
Listening to God means taking in what He is saying and acting upon those words from your heart!

Matthew 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
Jesus taught the disciples to listen, not just to Him as a human but to God.
Opening your eyes allows you to see the wonders of this God created world.
Opening your ears allows you to hear God’s word as well.
Opening our hearts allows us to hear so much more than just the noise of this world.
Opening your mouth allows you to share what you see and hear.

Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Paul did not go to theological college. He did not go to Open University or any other online college either. Paul did not have the benefit of a few years of following Christ through Israel.
Instead, Paul gives us insight into how much God taught him, not through man but through revelation.
We need to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit so that He can reveal God’s Word to us.
Don’t be shy, invite Him in because He is the best partner you will ever have!

1 Corinthians 2:10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
It is not only the earth and nature that God opens our eyes and minds to; it is also His word and His will which He opens to us.
We can try all we want to be able to understand what has been written by people from the past, but unless we have some insight into their works, we will struggle to understand things properly.
God has given us the Holy Spirit to give us that guidance and support we need to grow with Him in this unfathomable world!
It is God, through His Spirit that opens our hearts to His world.

Psalm 92:5 O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep.
We can all look around us and see the awesome nature we live amongst and know that God has had His hand in everything we see.
We can then look at everything man has done to break so much of what God has done…
But then we need to remember how much God has thought of in the beginning to make sure that we actually survive.
God continues to make sure we exist! God continues to make sure we hear His word. God continues to make sure we can live for Him.
Choose a life with God!

Psalm 28:5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord, nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them and not build them up.
How many times have you forgotten just how much God has done for you?
I know that I do forget to thank God for how much He does for me all the time, but I do have my moments when I see and get down on my knees in awe!
God knows our hearts and He knows that we take notice even if we do not always get down on our knees and thank Him.
Don’t think that God is going to take it all away just because we don’t pray enough – He sees in our hearts and that is what we need to take notice of.

Isaiah 5:12 The harp and the strings, the tambourine and flute, and wine are in their feasts; but they do not regard the work of the Lord, nor consider the operation of His hands.
I consider myself as a practical person because I can do practical things with my hands; I can fix and break things but I cannot play musical instruments!
I do marvel at people of all ages who are able to play instruments where they have to be in full control of their hands often with great dexterity to reach each note.
I marvel at how God has created us to be able to do things like this, each of us with very different skills we have learned, but each able to do so because God created us in this way!

Psalm 63:5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
Just as we can dream about having a delicious meal when we are really hungry, we too should dream about the refreshing Word of God!
It is not just the physical body that we should keep filled and healthy but our spiritual bodies as well.
Enjoying a good meal keeps you going for longer than the meal lasts, but will eventually run out.
We need to keep topped up with God’s Word in order to stay in spiritual form too.

Psalm 71:23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed.
Being able to celebrate how much we love God and how much Christ means to us is actually important in our lives. Being able to tell others and show others that we have joy in our lives is good.
If anyone tells you to keep quiet about loving God then they clearly do not know how much God means to you; so tell them about God!
This is not out of duty that we should perform these things but because of our love for our almighty God.
Doing something for love shows up much more than doing something because it is right or because you have to!

Psalm 43:4 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God.
When we are able to know in our hearts that Christ is willing and able to forgive us, we are able to come to God and worship Him with open hearts and with true joy!
Have you ever tried to be happy at a party when you have just had terrible news? It is very hard to set aside the sadness.
The same can be said about sin in our lives. If we are not able to set it aside we shall not be able to come to any celebration with God and praise Him as we should.
Lay aside sin and be glad in Christ!

Psalm 26:6 I will wash my hands in innocence; so I will go about Your altar, O Lord
When we come to worship God we should be doing so knowing that we have set aside our wrong-doings.
God has taught us from the beginning that we need to clean our hearts before coming to offer ourselves or our sacrifices to Him.
Whilst we cannot hope to cleanse ourselves from evil, we can ask Christ to cleanse us by admitting to our guilt and asking forgiveness.
Christ is willing to forgive us as long as we are willing to admit our faults and bring them to Him.
Then we are ready to worship!

James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
When we do submit to God we will find ourselves being drawn closer to Him as we try to please Him more than pleasing the world.
We then find that we find it easier to turn away from sin because we can begin to see things God’s way and not just our own selfish way.
When we spend more time in God’s word and more time with Him we allow Him to do more in our lives and allow Him more control.
We can then stop trying to be a Christian in our spare time and being a full time Christian with God!

James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
You may read half this verse and think that you can resist the devil… think again… read in context…
When we do submit to God we do things God’s way and not our own way. When we submit to God we listen to Him. When we submit to God we can then resist the devil.
It is having God in our lives that will make the devil flee and not us asking him to leave us alone; the devil will only flee from God and people who stick with God.

Psalm 32:9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you.
Trying to guide a donkey without a bridle is quite hard work unless it has been pacified and trained. I can remember trying to do so and failing miserably!
Without us being pacified and trained we are just as difficult and obstinate as a donkey or horse as we run off away from God.
Do we really want to have God put a bridle on us and force us in the right direction every day; or are we going to listen and learn with humility so we can work with Him?

Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
How easy it is to listen to people that you agree with! How hard it is to listen to anyone who dares to correct you!
I’m sure we have all resisted instruction and correction in our lives but those are the things which will allow us to learn and grow.
God’s Word is not just a lovely book of nice things that have happened; it is a book which contains instructions and corrections as well as everything else.
Listen and obey so that you can learn and grow.

Proverbs 5:12 And say: “How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised correction!
One of the hardest things to do is to start following instructions when you are used to not doing so.
We first see it as a wall that is impossible to get over because everyone you know is on this side of the wall; why should we get to the other side?
It is only when we see what it is like on the other side that we will be encouraged to open the door and go to the other side.
It really can be that easy.
