Isaiah 43:18 But the Lord says, “Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago.

God does not want us to dwell on the past but rather to look forward to what is ahead and what we can achieve.

If we dwell on the past the sins of our past and all the things we see wrong through God’s law and example will get us down. We will only see ourselves as the wretched sinners that we are.

But it is through what Christ has done that we are set free and can live a new life with and in Him alone.

Live your life with Christ and for Him!

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

The most amazing promise for us is that if we believe in Christ then our death with sin has no more hold on us; instead we have a new life in heaven!

I know I often forget just how awesome this statement is when I am happen and content with life, but when I feel down or worried I can gain so much hope and power from this verse.

Christ died on the cross to set us free from our awful death. Yes we still will die physically, but like Christ, we will rise with a new life to be in heaven with God!

John 3:34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

When we go through each of the prophets, kings and judges of the Old Testament, we find that most had a fairly clear start and end point in their lives where they received words from God.

But when we compare Jesus to any of them we find something very different; there is no end to the start and end of His ministry or His blessing.

Yes Jesus was most active in His last three years, but He continued after His death which was unique and before His birth, also unique.

Christ is unique. He is God!

John 1:16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

No matter how much man says he does not believe or how much we say we have had nothing from God, He has supplied something to everyone.

For those who come to Him regularly to receive their daily instruction, he gives. For those who choose to ignore Him, He has already given.

We do not all get the same because we do not treat God the same, but we all do receive.

Is it not time to give praise to our God who continues to supply our needs?

Isaiah 12:5 Sing to the Lord, for He has done excellent things; this is known in all the earth.

I find it truly amazing that so many people around the world know about God and yet so many choose to ignore Him or reject Him.

So many people know about the miracles that he did and still does, and yet they choose not to bring them to life.

I do love singing to the Lord, though those around me may well object at times when my voice falters.

I do that to praise Him because He alone deserves all of our praise!

Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

It is our privilege and blessing that God is with us and in our midst. Yes, God is with us!

It is totally amazing that God continues to stay with mankind and continues to love us even when we go astray.

He continues to lift us up by giving us blessings and encouraging us to find the truth.

Christ continues to be our advocate in front of God the Father! Live for Him!

Psalm 119:94 I am Yours, save me; for I have sought Your precepts.

It is the scriptures that bring us closer to God when we spend time listening to Him through them.

It is Christ who came to save us from our sin debt, but in doing so He pointed us back to the scriptures at every opportunity to make sure we know how important they are for us.

Seek God through what He has given to us already instead of trying to seek Him through some sort of experience.

Make it real by taking in what God has said.

Psalm 119:93 I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have given me life.

It is amazing how the scriptures can do so much to change our lives even though they were written so many years ago.

We think that society changes so much over time and that we have to keep up with it in order to be understood, but God’s Word remains entirely relevant always!

Being able to remember what God has said to others allows us to grow closer with Him because we can compare others’ lives with our own.

Always keep God’s Word in your heart; it’s where it belongs!

Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands;

When Christ came to be with Israel He made sure that people, through the disciples and His teaching, knew that His commands were important.

Just as God had revealed to man that following Him through our hearts is important, so Christ taught us that loving others and Him were important.

The law is there to open our eyes and our hearts. We need to keep our eyes and hearts focused on Christ so the Holy Spirit can work through us!

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

When we profess to be Christians we must be willing to go out and show people that we are Christians.

That does not just mean that we must pitch up at church every weekend or at prayer sessions on time… it means living a life with Christ and being thankful to God for all that He allows us to do.

It is no small miracle that we are alive today and we owe it all to God. Being thankful and showing others we are thankful is quite normal!

So be normal & thank God!

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

I know it is nice to get credit for the things that you have done, and we all probably talk things up a bit to make sure we get the credit.

But how many times have you remembered that none of this would be possible without God? How many times have you given God the credit?

Being able to give all glory to God can be hard when we crave for recognition, but it is only right that we do give Him the credit.

He is our God and He did create us. He does love us too!

Ephesians 6:7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men

Being willing to serve God does come with a price. Being willing to serve God does come with rewards.

It should not be the rewards from man that we seek in our lives but the life with God that we can look forward to that spurns us on.

I have learned to live with what God gives me and what He takes away from me; not because I give in but because I see that it is better for me.

Don’t always expect to be given and earthly reward from God just because you are willing to do Him service!

1 Thessalonians 2:4 But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.

It is Christ who gave out the great commission. It is God who gave us instruction to spread the Gospel. It is the Holy Spirit who indwells us to empower us with the Gospel.

When we speak about God to others we need to aim to please God with our words and not to please man with our words.

If we aim to please man we will only get a reward from man…

I know God has many things in store for those who are willing to follow Him and obey Him. Come and share in God’s kingdom!

Proverbs 24:29 Do not say, “I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.”

It is hard not to hit back at people when they hurt you. That is our natural reaction; but not what God has required!

When we react rather than act we do what we have learned as habits and not what we have learned from God.

Christ did not show us a ministry of reacting but a ministry of reaching out through actions and through God’s love.

God wants us to make a difference in the world and not to react to the world and keep it going!

Psalm 18:4 The pangs of death surrounded me, and the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

One of the hardest things I find of dealing with is the heart-ache we have from what other people say and do against us, especially when we are trying to do what God has asked of us.

These back-biting words and deeds come from all manner of people in our lives and when they come they overshadow all the good words and deeds.

When they do, turn to God’s Word and find the strength again. God has promised never to leave us and He does not. Draw on His strength, always.

Psalm 119:62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, because of Your righteous judgments.

Have you ever had to get up really early to go off on holiday? It is hard waking up at first but the excitement takes over and we go for it!

What about viewing your life with Christ in a similar manner? Why not be happy and eager to get up early on occasion to set things in motion?

If you are serious with God then you should be willing to go that extra hour and achieve more for Him and with Him!

Acts 16:25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

Don’t make the excuse that you can never get to a church when it is open or that you cannot meet with others because of work schedules.

Paul and Silas were in prison but they set aside their late night hours to worship God in the way they could; they prayed openly and they sung together.

Our family has never been one to gather round a piano and sing so when I can get together with others and attempt to sing, I try.

God knows my heart and He seems to put up with my voice!

Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

Being able to meet with people and encourage each other is one of the things I enjoy most about being a Christian.

I’m not one for making a party out of life and living it on the edge because I would rather see my energy directed toward someone in need than myself.

Reminding each other of all the wonderful things God opens up to us through His Word gives us hope for our future; a hope that means more than self-gratification, and lasts longer too!

Acts 2:13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

One thing that I took a while to get used to was the fact that people look at Christians as being odd much of the time!

Why? Because we are different! Not in a bad way but in a good way. The problem is that the world does not see it that way.

What the world sees is a person who is different and not normal according to their own rules. So the world labels us in worldly ways…

We still use those labels as Christians too; what we should be doing is setting ourselves apart.

1 Samuel 1:13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.

How do you lift up your prayers to God? Do you stand on a rooftop and shout as loud as you can? Do you shut yourself in a quiet room and whisper? Do you stand in a room full of people and pray with them?

Prayer is a very personal thing because it is your own conversation with God; don’t expect everyone to understand how you pray because you are unique!

Hannah came to a place where she thought she would be able to be alone with God as she spoke to Him; it was only Eli who could not see that… God heard her clearly!
