Isaiah 5:12 The harp and the strings, The tambourine and flute, And wine are in their feasts; But they do not regard the work of the Lord, Nor consider the operation of His hands.
Some people in our lives will spend all of their time trying to find earthly pleasures; trying to find more money to spend on more earthly pleasures…
They are allowing everything God has built up to pass them by just so they can find another earthly fix for the moment they live in.
God wants us all to live for Him; taking time to look at all of creation, including the people around us. He wants us to love and cherish all we have been given.
Only that way can we take in the full extent of His love toward us!

Psalm 28:5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord, Nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them And not build them up.
There are those around us who will say all the right things for us to believe them but never support us when we need help; all they wish for is disruption and chaos.
To those, the Psalmist is asking God for protection from and even just and final punishment.
These sorts of people are working against God’s wishes and against God’s ways. They are destroying what God is trying to build up.
Don’t wish bad things on people just because you don’t agree with them; give them up to God and allow our righteous and just Father to deal with them!

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The peace God gives us goes much further than peace we can gain from earthly measures…
Having someone stand by you, give you hugs, comfort you with words and generally be there when others are deserting you makes a very big difference to your hope.
Christ wants to make sure we get all of the above and more so we can grow spiritually; so we can have hope where there is no earthly hope.
God’s love for you knows no ends – rest in it and grow in it!

John 20:21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
One of the first things Christ did on His resurrection was to set in place a way we should spread the Gospel.
Our commission is the same as Jesus laid out to the disciples; to take the truth of what has happened and to tell other people about it.
The Holy Spirit is the one who will work on their hearts to change their spirits; our job is to simply tell people the truth from our hearts.
People will be more willing to believe someone who knows they are telling the truth…

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Christ did not come out of the grave telling everyone He was higher than God because He had personally defeated death; instead Jesus declared God the Father had given Him all power.
Jesus is part of the God-Head and not God by Himself. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit make up what we know as God.
It is difficult for us to understand and gets in our way of learning when we get bogged down in trying to understand.
Simply believe the words Christ told us and trust fully in Him!

Matthew 28:10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”
Jesus wanted to make sure people knew He had risen from the grave; not to show off but to make sure people understood He was keeping His promises!
From the initial sighting by Mary to the multitude who saw Him later, we have many witnesses who testified how Jesus came back to life; just as He had promised.
Trusting Christ is not really trusting the unseen because we do have witnesses and we have it all in writing – we just have a society which would rather hide their shame than face it in front of Christ!

Numbers 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work. For you it is a day of blowing the trumpets.
How would you feel if this is what you were told was going to happen, but you had just lost your best friend?
The disciples and those close to Jesus would have had to do their best to follow the law in the scriptures; but they would also have been mourning for their loss too.
Jesus knew what was happening and He knew this was one feast He would not go to because His body lay dead in the tomb.
…But He knew what lay ahead…

1 Corinthians 15:55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
These words were first written hundreds of years before Christ came to earth as a human. They are used here to remind us the death on the cross was not the end of it all!
Jesus did physically die on the cross, but it did not stop Him from carrying out His promises to us about being able to join Him in Heaven.
Nothing on earth could have stopped what happened as Jesus was nailed to the cross; this was God’s will.
God’s will is that we can join Him in heaven – make your choice now.

1 Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
The words given to the church at Corinth were slightly different, bringing home the fact this would all be over as quick as we can blink!
God does not want people to suffer; this being the kindest way of taking believers away – in an instant rather than a long drawn out affair.
God’s love continues to be shown even in the worst circumstance. Allow Him to show you His personal love for you – and then tell others about it!

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Jesus also told the disciples how we would go to join Him in Heaven; He was taken up in a cloud with much joy from Heaven.
We will be taken up without warning, signifying we do not have foreknowledge of the time. We will be taken up together as one church body.
Christ wants us to be together – but it will only be those who do believe and trust in Christ because this is His personal gift to us!

John 17:24 Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
When Jesus was praying to His Father, these are the words He used to show how much He wants us to join Him in Heaven.
He shows us here He was thinking of us from the very beginning, The Holy Trinity showing us their Love toward us and a way we can be with Them in Heaven.
God had a plan and He carried it out to make sure we have a choice and that we have a reward for choosing life with Him.
Be happy and enjoy what God has given you!

Psalm 41:12 As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever.
God upheld Jesus because of many things; what set Him apart from other humans was the fact He was without sin.
His ‘reward’ for being perfect is to have a seat with God in Heaven, to be able to see Him face to face and enjoy eternity in Heaven.
Jesus wants us to be able to join Him in Heaven but our sin is holding us back; admitting our sin to Him and asking for forgiveness will allow us to join Him for eternity!

Psalm 41:11 By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me.
Jesus knew the Father’s love for Him and He tried to talk about it in a way people would see how real it is. When He was baptised God spoke out loud.
If this is how God treated His Son even though He was blamed for so much by the people, then how much will Christ speak out for you even though the people say things about you?
Jesus gave His life because He knows us and because He forgives us; allow Him to speak on your behalf – follow Him!

Psalm 41:10 But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them.
Jesus had the foreknowledge of who was going to come up against Him as a man. He knew who was going to be there to reject Him as Messiah. He knew who was going to work against Him and have Him flogged.
But because of His amazing love toward us all, He stepped forward into their teeth, into their den, just so He could make our way safe.
But for those who have rejected Him, despised Him, wounded Him and turned away from Him – the punishment awaits; not because Christ is angry but because He is just.

Psalm 41:6 And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it.
We can see who our enemies are by the way the act towards others and not just ourselves. We can see who the enemies of Christ are in a similar way.
If we can see them so easily then God has no problem spotting them a mile off.
We may have to wait for people to say something out of sorts or to do something wrong before we spot they are not good. Christ has the foreknowledge to see who is willing to ask for His forgiveness.
You don’t have to wait until God tells you off – ask for forgiveness now.

John 13:19 Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He.
Jesus knew one of the disciples was going to reject Him. We can all speculate about why – but whatever the reason, Judas was going to betray Christ and both of them saw it coming.
Up until this moment Jesus had not treated any of the disciples differently – indeed Jesus had just washed all of their feet to signify them being cleaned.
We make our choices and Christ is willing to wait right up until the last moment; but we don’t know when that time is coming.
Be ready and love Jesus right now!

John 13:18 I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’
God knows all those who will come to Him and knows all those who will refuse to come to Him; yet we are all given an equal chance in the beginning.
Just as all twelve disciples were sitting with Jesus, hearing the same message and enjoying the same teaching, we too are all enjoying the grace Christ is showing.
But when the time comes for each of us to show our true colours, we will make our choice to either follow Christ or reject Him – it is our choice!

1 Peter 1:20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you
One of the most comforting and yet scary things I think of is how the words of the Old Testament were written so many years ago and foretold of all the things which would have to come – the horrible parts such as sacrifices for us!
Then in our New Testaments we find out how they all have already happened!
And now we wait for the things which are written about our futures where Christ is going to come back for us. Awesome, yet still scary!

Isaiah 52:3 For thus says the Lord: “You have sold yourselves for nothing, And you shall be redeemed without money.”
We are said to sell ourselves for nothing because we continue to give in to sin all the time; knowing we do wrong but giving in to it just the same.
We may gain in some earthly ways from our sins, but we do not truly gain because of the price we end up paying for what we have done!
God, Christ is not paying money for our souls. He has laid down His life for our spiritual wellbeing and our eternal life. He has paid for this with the blood of the Lamb.

Isaiah 55:1 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.
These are the word of The Lord given to Isaiah to tell the people; it is God who is telling people to come and eat and drink without worrying if it will cost too much.
God wants us all to have access to His Word and to His love without worrying if we have to pay any price for it.
Jesus Christ has paid the price so we may have full and free access to His eternal gift to us all. Nobody is excluded from being given the gift; but we do have to accept it…
