James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
James wrote these words to try and correct the mistakes the Jews had written into the laws they upheld. They had turned this basic law on its head and tried to make things positive in their own eyes.
Their law went along the lines of “he who observed any principal command was as good as he who observed all the commands.”
God says we are guilty if we leave out any or break any; which may sound harsh when viewed against the Jewish law, but there is only one truth!

Galatians 5:3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.
Religion and Christianity may be seen as being the same by many, but there are subtle differences… Religion is based on laws and Christianity should be based on relationships.
Just as there were arguments back then, there will be many today as well. People will follow religion because it has a known set of laws and is easier to manage.
But if we follow the law, then we should follow the whole law and nothing but the law. Christ says otherwise. He asks us first of all to love Him and love each other, then adhere to the laws He has shown us, not those we make up!

Galatians 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!
There is nothing we can do legally to gain God’s grace. God has allowed His Son Jesus Christ to come and pay for a debt we have built up over many years – that is a freebie for us!
Do we deserve His love and mercy? No! But that is what love and mercy are all about – receiving it even though we do not deserve it & that is grace!
Christ did do this all for a reason – it was not just something which happened a long time ago for some other guys who knew Him. It is for me and you, right now!

Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.
Have you ever seen it before – people high up in a religious organisation take it upon themselves to say what is right rather than following the bible and what it teaches us?
It is sad how mankind will get to a stage where they just want more power and more recognition until the moment where they leave the truth behind and go off believing they can do anything.
The only way we can do anything is with Christ; through Him nothing is impossible and so with Him everything is possible.

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.
Read all about it – the latest news, the latest gossip, the latest ‘how do I get rich’ schemes… they are all there to be read and it is amazing how many people will believe the stuff which is published!
Social media spreads far more gossip than anything else and yet it can be used for so much good too; it is mankind making active choices which is where it all goes wrong!
Allow the Lord to guide you in the right and correct path. It is only through His guidance we will actually succeed in life – the rest disappears with our bodies when we die!

Isaiah 7:7 Yet this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “ ‘It will not take place, it will not happen,
When people say all manner of things about what will happen in your life, take it with a pinch of salt.
It is God who is in charge of this universe and He is the one who will shape the things to come.
Yes, bad people still do bad stuff, but that is their own foolish choice they are making.
Allow God to protect you by giving Him permission to rule your life with you; He wants to guide you in the best ways forward but will not simply organise everything for you!

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
In all our activities and plans we should be looking to God for advice and guidance; both spiritual and physical.
We need to establish our ways as being part of God’s plan and in doing so we will find how He guides us in all ways.
God wants us to have a good life and to share this life with those around us, not just friends and family but also those in need – trust Him to guide you where you are needed most!

Psalm 37:6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
Following on from trying to commit your ways to the Lord; we can expect God to be generous in what He does for us.
Is it right to expect God to do things for us? Well, if He has promised to do so, then expecting the result is following His Word.
Don’t expect Him to give you flashy cars and jets and all sorts of things like that – expect Him to give you what you need and when you ned it most!
God loves you and wants you to live a good life with Him at the core – expect Him to stay with you!

Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
What does committing your way to the Lord actually look like in our modern world?
If you wanted to please your boss at work, then you would listen to them, obey them and even try to do things before they had to ask you to do them.
God would like us to please Him by doing a similar thing in our lives; by listening, obeying and trying to please Him.
When we are willing to go that step further than just say we believe, then God is willing to do things for us too.

1 Timothy 5:25 In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.
Have you ever wondered why other people get all the attention, even when you are doing good things?
Don’t get all worked up about it because nothing gets done without God noticing things; it is not for the recognition or bragging rights that we should be doing things but to please God!
If God wants you to get noticed then He will open up the doors at the right time and make sure you do get the recognition for all you are doing – just keep going and keep doing it because you love God!

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Love allows you to see past the things of this world. Love allows you to reach out when the world says no!
When you allow God into your life you are allowing Him to fill your heart with His love. With you heart full of His love, you will have no problem taking that love and sharing it.
True love allows you to get past any fears you have. Worldly love leaves a big gap between you and your destiny. God is trying to bridge that gap for you…

1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Do you think of love as a chicken and egg situation where you cannot love someone else without them loving you as well?
Love has to start somewhere and if you are serious about it, it must start with you!
God started the ball rolling by sending His Son to pay for our debt so we can be forgiven; all we need do is to love Him back with the same love He has already shown us.
With that love in us we can then share love with other people and encourage them to see what God has done.

1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Which side do you choose to live on? The side where you follow the world and everything the world can teach you, or the side where you follow God and all He can teach you?
You may be complaining now and saying it is not a fair choice because we already live in this world – but we do have a choice to make.
God is love. If we seek after God, we seek after love. If we seek after the world we seek after personal possessions which turns to greed, lust, envy and jealousy.
Allow God to guide you.

Psalm 14:5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
For those who do have a knowledge of God and a semblance of good and evil, fear and dread fills their lives every day.
They know they have done wrong and they fear the consequences.
But God sent His Son Jesus Christ to come and take on the ultimate payment for our actions – not all consequences are covered by Christ because we still have to answer to local laws…
But God has set us free so we can spend our eternity with Him in Heaven!

Psalm 14:4 Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD.
Have you noticed how the people who do so many things wrong do not have a true knowledge of the consequences of what they are doing?
Many may know there are consequences, but continue to ignore them because they have a notion they will not have to see those consequences for themselves.
Unfortunately, the truth does always come out and people end up having to pay for what they have done in some way.
But God has made a way we can move forward from our sins…

Proverbs 30:14 those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth and the needy from among mankind.
You do have to wonder at some people and how they cannot see the needs of the poor. Yes, there are people who cannot actually see past their own lifestyles!
But who are we to judge them? Who are we to say whether we would not have been like that given enough money and corruption?
No matter what our circumstance, whether obscenely rich or unbelievably poor, we have a duty to follow God’s example and to love each other.
Reach out today and make a difference in someone else’s life.

Proverbs 30:10 Do not slander a servant to their master, or they will curse you, and you will pay for it.
How many times have you jumped in to an argument to support someone without actually knowing the truth behind the harsh words?
How many of those times did you have to (or should you have) apologise for getting the wrong end of the story?
When we lash out at others without knowing the background or truth, we are doing nothing more than falsely judging others – breaking one of the 10 Commandments!
Just because we may be poor people and fighting rich people does not mean we must support lies together. Think before you shout out!

Proverbs 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
For people who are genuinely trying to follow Christ, talking about Him and sharing all He has done for us is not a problem.
For those who want to follow religion instead of the truth, a whole string of conflicts starts to surface and soon takes over.
Stretch that a bit further and the conflicts turn to hatred and violence; this is where extremism comes from.
Follow Christ and as He stands for, leaving the world and religion behind you!

John 7:38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.
We have plenty of scripture which talks about living water flowing from Christ, so when we read what Christ was saying here, it may come as a bit of a shock to some.
Christ did not come to show people how great He was so they would bow down to Him, He came to save us and to allow us to grow with Him.
When we believe in Him, the Holy Spirit comes to live with us and when that happens we are filled to overflowing with the same living waters.
Allow yourself to be filled to overflowing and embrace Christianity to the fullest!

John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Just as this woman at Jacob’s well got an answer she was not expecting, we too may get answers we are not expecting.
God is not limited by our imaginations or by our time; instead He will give us answers we need to hear, answers we need to know.
Listen well and digest any answer He gives because it will go further than you think! Jesus wants us to know the truth, the whole truth and everything we need to know.
