Genesis 19:7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing.
This is taken from the account right before Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, when the people were being so wicked.
Lot lived in this wicked place. He knew the people were wicked and yet he was there and still called them his brothers or friends.
We do need to remind people they are loved by God and that love needs to start somewhere – let it start in you and spread to those around you.
God wants to forgive, but it is His choice to judge the guilty, not ours. We need to follow Christ’s words and love all people.

Genesis 20:17 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelek, his wife and his female slaves so they could have children again
I’m not sure I would have ended up being as calm as Abimelek seemed to be as depicted here in this chapter!
Abraham was scared for his life and the life of his wife – why he did things the way he did is very human!
We all make mistakes and we all get things terribly wrong – but when we open our hearts and confess our problems to God, His is willing and able to do so much more than we expect!
God answers prayers more than you realise.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Admitting your faults, wrongdoing and sins is never easy, but being able to pray for each other so we can be less tempted and to sin less is always good.
Just as we trust others more the more they tell us the truth, so God will be listening and answering when He knows you are genuine with your requests.
God is faithful to answer our prayers; just how faithful are we with our honouring Him and listing up those prayers?

John 14:13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
It is an amazing promise made here by Jesus Christ that He will do anything we ask when we ask in His name.
This is not to promote Himself as able to do anything but rather to support our sharing of the gospel.
When we tell other Christ is able to do anything, we need to believe it and ask Him to support our telling of the gospel; that way He can answer our prayers and give all the glory to God our Father in Heaven!

Romans 8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Have you ever felt a special spiritual connection with someone else, maybe even thinking you know them better than anyone else in the world?
Well, God knows you even better than this because He knows what is in your heart and spirit.
When we listen to the Holy Spirit we get an insight into God’s will in our lives because it is the Holy Spirit who will be guiding us in God’s will.
Listen and learn.

Psalm 20:4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
How many people do you lift up and bless with words like these?
If we really do want to make a difference in our community or even the world, then we have to make a start ourselves.
Don’t sit and expect the world to change according to your wants and desires but do start praying for others to ask God to do that for them.
The difference will start with you asking on behalf of others, not you expecting others to ask for you!

Psalm 20:1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
We can read about the troubles Jesus faced on earth right from His birth through to His death; this seems to be a fact of life for man Christians… trouble will follow you!
We need to lift up our prayers for each other to God each and every day because it is the prayers which make a difference.
Simply doing nothing gets the same response, nothing. But lifting each other up in prayers will get results – answers to your prayers for each other!

Isaiah 40:20 Whoever is too impoverished for such a contribution Chooses a tree that will not rot; He seeks for himself a skilful workman To prepare a carved image that will not totter.
Just because you don’t have the money to get what you want or you don’t have enough to pay your bills on time, does not mean you use what little you have to break rules.
God continues to watch over us and wants to help us in every spot of bother we get into; but doing it yourself and not giving God a chance to help you will not work.
You may come out with something that looks nice but if God is not in it then what use is it in the end?
Allow God to work in your life; give Him time!

Isaiah 40:19 The workman melds an image, The goldsmith overspreads it with gold, And the silversmith casts silver chains.
What do you do, or what do you wish to do for a living; what will earn you the money so you can live?
Are you willing to break the rules to make money, or do you continue to try and do what is right even for money?
Money is a very strong driver in our lives and one which can often lead us astray; don’t be tempted to go off and do things your own way just so you can earn a bit more.
The money will not come with you to heaven and God takes no regard of it!

Isaiah 40:18 To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him?
What or who is God to you? How do you look at Him? How would you describe Him?
Far too often we look at the physical things in life, because that is what we see and what we can relate to.
God is so much more than we can describe in physical terms; getting to grips with who God is and what He does in your life will help you to understand Him a little more.
Don’t hold back just because you cannot see!

Romans 10:11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
This letter, or book, to the Romans was written to try and get them to understand just how important Christ was and still is.
Our belief in Christ as being the Son of God is central to our lives; or that is what it should be. Our earnest belief in Him will hold us together and allow us to be with Him in Heaven.
We need to continue encouraging each other; friends, family and others about Christ and all He has done for us and how He has made it possible for us to live eternally with Him.

1 John 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
Plenty of people may acknowledge Jesus as being a man who lived around the time we say He was born and some will even say He is a prophet.
But how many people are willing to say that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?
If we are honestly going to admit that in our hearts and souls, then we have an Advocate who is willing to stand up for us when the day comes.
He is also willing to live within us as our daily guide and counsellor!

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
When we accept Christ into our lives we do more than just bring a friend to share our lives with.
Christ gives us the Holy Spirit as our guide and counsellor. He comes to stay within us and not just sharing our homes or churches!
Christ has overcome death and sin through giving His live on the cross and raising Himself again after 3 days. He can do anything; which means the Holy Spirit can also do anything – listen to Him!

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
How far are you willing to go for someone you really love? Just to set the record straight, if they loved you they would not ask you to do things which are wrong or evil!
God has asked us to follow Him. Christ has given it all for us to follow Him. He now encourages us through words like these…
Following God means listening to Him and doing what He asks of us. When we do, He has a wonderful place for us with Him in Heaven!

Psalm 5:4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You.
Let us never forget that our God is not a god who loves wars, fighting, wickedness or evil; He cannot abide any of this.
So, if we are trying to build our lives based on anything evil or wicked, we have a problem which is keeping us away from God!
Christ’s command for us to love one another is a command which works against such things in our lives, things we need to avoid in order to draw closer to Him.
Try to follow God’s ways for a week and see how different you feel about people around you!

Revelation 17:6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marvelled with great amazement.
Seeing anyone out of control can be disturbing but what makes them lose control can be even more disturbing!
What sort of things make you lose control? Anger? Alcohol? Drugs? Greed? Spite? Would you build your life on any of these attributes?
Building your life on the misfortune of others or breaking the lives of others so your life can be better are probably worse than anything listed above.
God has given us instructions for a better life – we should be following those instructions…

Psalm 14:3 They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.
How many times have you gone forward expecting people to support you and found you are going forward alone and without help?
How many times have people around you looked to you for help and you have turned your back on them?
Life is all about keeping good relationships with people, just as God commanded us to love one another.
You don’t have to be a sinless person to help or love others. Just do it!

Psalm 14:2 The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
There are some people who in their zeal to become better Christians will shout about how God is watching over us and will pour down His wrath on any who do wrong!
What the bible tells us is quite different. Yes God is watching over us, constantly… but it is not to try and trip us up!
God watches us to see if we are understanding His ways; if not, He will try to guide us toward the light so we can get to know Him better.
He loves us!

Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.
The more we study our earth, history and science, the more we should be able to realise God is real!
It is only when we allow our own fantasies and imaginations to take over that we make up stories about how we could come into being by any other means.
No matter how good we try to be, we will always fall short of the standard set by God.
When we acknowledge this we can move forward with Him despite our wrong-doings!

Amos 5:5 But do not seek Bethel, Nor enter Gilgal, Nor pass over to Beersheba; For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, And Bethel shall come to nothing.
What things in life do you set your goals toward? What are the desires of your heart?
God has warned mankind throughout time that we must not hanker after earthly goods and ways; yet we still do!
Everything on this corrupt earth will come to an end and if that is all we have been seeking after, we will have nothing left to seek.
God wants us to follow Him and all He can give us, now and in the future. Seek God. Seek Life. Have Hope!
