John 6:52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
If we do ask Jesus questions, we must be willing to listen to the answer and find out more about the answer too.
Jesus was talking to the people to try and get them to understand He was more than just a person; something they were not willing to accept at this stage.
If we are not willing to accept the answers given us by God, then we too may be stumbling about a while before we understand.
The bible has been given to us so we can find out more and have answers expanded and elaborated on. Use it!

John 3:9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
Do you have questions you want to ask God? Well then, go ahead and ask Him!
We don’t have to keep quiet and try hide the fact we may look silly by asking question which may be obvious to others; if we never ask we will not find out the answers!
Jesus wants us to know the truth and He is willing to listen to our questions and make sure they are answered in full.
It may take a bit of time for us to hear the answer clearly – we may well not want to know the answer – but keep on listening!

Jude 1:25 to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
What would make a brother of Jesus write such words about someone whom he did not really believe in the beginning? The Truth!
The brothers (or half brothers) of Jesus would have had a hard time believing their own brother was God! It’s hard enough believing your brother about most things when you are young, never mind something so great!
But Jesus never turned His back on any of them, knowing God would bring them home in His own time.
Believe in and trust in the only wise Saviour, Jesus Christ!

1 Timothy 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
I’m sure these words will remind you of an old hymn, but how do you really look at God?
Do you see Him as someone, Jesus, who has lived in the past and that’s about it? Or do you see Him as a ghost-like being who is around and about?
God is so much more than we can think of; don’t be discouraged into thinking He cannot be real because you cannot imagine Him!
He deserves all the honour and glory because it is God who created us and sustains us – we just seem to mess things up a lot in front of Him!

John 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
God is Holy. He is Just. He is not just something someone made up. God is real!
But we also need to know Him as being God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Right now, we cannot see Him. God the Father is all encompassing and everywhere. God the Son, Jesus, is enjoying His time in Heaven. The Holy Spirit is here with us continually, even though we cannot see Him.
We need to worship our Great God as being the way, the truth and the life; everything in our lives!

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
So many people get caught up in the religion instead of the truth about Christ; why? Because they have something they can physically get a hold of and do for themselves.
When they get caught up in religion, it takes over their lives and they become slaves to the religion.
Christ wants us all to be free. Christ wants us to know Him and love Him and each other. When we accept Him as Saviour, He will try to teach us more of the truth, it that truth will set us free!

1 Corinthians 9:27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
How much do you actually try and keep yourself from doing things? Are you like a shadow boxer who is making all the right moves but not actually hitting the mark, or do you go into a fight for real?
We have to be honest about what we can do but also honest about when we are giving in and going with the flow.
If it means taking a hit so you will remember what you have done wrong, then just maybe that is what we need to do!

Romans 2:21 you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?
The people who were going out to teach others were given a stark warning here in the book of Romans; one we need to remember always.
If we are going to go out and tell others about God, about what they should do and should not do, then we have to act like the type of person we are talking about!
We cannot take all our worldly ways with us and preach the Gospel, telling people to turn from their worldly ways…
Be a disciple. Be different. Take out God’s word and invite people in to share it with you.

Psalm 50:17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.
Admit it, you don’t like being told when you do things wrong, even if it comes from God!
None of us like to have to admit to our faults, but unless we are willing to do so before God, then we are never going to draw close to Him.
The longer we reject the things God tell us, the more we walk away from Him and the more we are seen as rebellious and not as followers of God.
Admit things to God and allow people to see you have turned away from the things of the world and toward Him once again.

Proverbs 15:32 Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.
For all those people who constantly disregard any disciple or instructions, to you I ask, who are you actually affecting the most?
It certainly is not the people who try to constantly tell you what you are doing wrong – they will get bored of telling you and you will still be doing it wrong!
If you do have any love, then start loving yourself and listening to those around who are trying to help – yes it may not sound nice, but they may well be your hope!

Proverbs 15:33 Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the LORD, and humility comes before honour.
Our wisdom comes from God; we need to stop and listen to Him in order to gain wisdom like His. The wisdom of the world is nothing but man’s greatest thoughts…
Who are we but a creation of God – the ultimate wisdom must surely come from Him. Who are we to think anything less?
If we are willing to humble ourselves before God, before our creator, then we will be able to gain from His wisdom as we grow with it. Even Christ Himself said we need to humble ourselves before we can be exalted…

Proverbs 18:12 Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honour.
People become quite stuck up with their riches… they are often high-minded and need to be reminded where they stand.
This is God’s way of reminding us never to look down on poor people because circumstance has allowed them to get into such a state. Without riches, a rich man is a poor man!
Don’t allow the riches of the world to stop you from loving and supporting people in need whether they are next door or around the world.
God was always looking out for people who needed Him, whether they were rich, poor, healthy or sick.

Luke 14:11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Jesus always used pertinent stories to back up what He was saying; ensuring people would listen and learn from the stories.
When we tell others about Christ, we too should be thinking of ways we can allow others to relate to Him through our own experiences with others.
Don’t brag about how much you can do or how much has been done for you; neither of these ways are too successful in promoting Christ.

Proverbs 25:14 Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of gifts never given.
How many times have you said you were going to do something but never actually got around to doing them?
One thing Christ made sure of was the fact He would always follow through on what He said and always live up to His promises made; to the extent we can believe everything He ever said as a promise!
Being honest is one thing, but making sure your honesty is upheld is often a lot harder to do. Live up to what God is asking you to do so He can get the glory!

2 Corinthians 10:13 We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the sphere of service God himself has assigned to us, a sphere that also includes you.
Boasting about things which you have not actually witnessed is always a dodgy thing to do; may people will call you out on that!
All through the bible we can see events where people would boast about things which happened when they did not actually happen or they “expanded on the truth!”
Listen to God to hear what He wants you to tell others about – He does not want you to boast about your own things but to try and glorify Him in all things.
Yes, God is trying to teach you…

Romans 10:18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”
Asking the obvious is a good way to make a point with most people. Here the Romans are almost challenged by the expanse of the church and ministry.
The Romans were a considerable force who did manage to spread far and wide, but the Gospel message went just as far with far less of an army!
We use power, great numbers of people and even technology to take over or control others; God uses the truth being told by a few honest people to reach even more.
God reaches inside people’s hearts and does not beat them up so they will listen. Be more like God!

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Jesus spoke to the people around Him. He did not call special meetings to which only church members could be invited. He did not call special meetings to which only church leaders were invited…
He opened meetings to everyone who was willing to listen!
We need to be willing to obey Him by going to everyone who is willing to listen; all those hurting, all those looking for hope, all those wanting, all those in need… everyone!

Isaiah 43:10 “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.
God speaks to the people of Israel here; anyone who is willing to listen – don’t forget people actually came along and “joined” with Israel so they could be with God too!
God chose Christ to be His primary servant and each of us should aspire to be more like Christ in being servant-hearted and willing to obey God always.
The more we walk with God the more we understand and the more we are able to show others what an awesome God we have!

Isaiah 42:1 Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations.
When God allowed Jesus to come to earth as a human, it was not on a whim or chance, it was planned and talked about long before Christ came.
Jesus was being sent to live amongst us as a friend; not as ruler and king, despite that being His worthy position.
Jesus came to seek all who are lost and the save us from our eternal death which we deserve.
What a friend! What love! Share it with others…

Exodus 33:11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
How did God speak to Moses? Face to face, as a friend! Two lessons to take from this…
When we want to speak to someone, be it to say good things or bad, we should be speaking face to face and not behind their backs!
Second, we need to treat people as friends and not as objects about which we can talk – talking to a friend always comes out different than talking about an object.
Make sure you have the right attitude when you need to say something!
