Psalm 103:8 the Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
How many times have friends turned on you just because you said or did the wrong thing at the wrong time?
God has an amazing capacity to love us no matter what we have done wrong and no matter how far we stray away from Him.
He watches over us with compassion. He waits patiently as we get things wrong. He guides us continually waiting for us to listen.
His love is over all!

Matthew 11:11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Have you ever dreamed about being someone important, some sort of hero or a famous scientist? I think we all have…
When we get to heaven, none of these things we dream about on earth are going to matter – instead, we will all be much more.
You see, the most important people on the earth are those who will give their lives to Christ…
But the most important people in Heaven are those who already have!

Romans 15:2 Each of us should please our neighbours for their good, to build them up.
How do you feel when someone comments on how good you are or how well you have done?
How do you feel when someone comments on how bad you are or how you have done something terrible?
Why cause more anguish in the world when you can, instead, bring joy and happiness by being honest and encouraging!

Psalm 145:16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
When we say God is our Creator and King of Kings, we really should treat Him like that and believe He can and does look after everything!
Too often we limit our prayers to personal requests, or things we understand; we should be lifting up prayers for things needed by everyone and everything.
God has chosen man to be ruler over everything – that gives us responsibility over everything – which means we need to take care of it all properly!
Lift up your prayers to ask God to help you know what to do!

Luke 3:18 And with many other words John exhorted the people and proclaimed the good news to them.
When someone asks you about God or Jesus, how do you go about talking to them?
Sometimes we struggle when we cannot think of the right words to describe what we think about God – but I have found the best way is to just talk about what you do with God on a daily basis.
When someone asks you about a relationship with another person, you probably tell them of everyday things… so why not talk about Christ like this?

Psalm 40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.
If you struggle with telling people about God, then you should try asking Him to give you the words instead of trying to make them up yourself!
No matter how hard we try to describe something, it never quite lives up to having something tangible to grasp with your own hands.
God wants us to give people the truth so they can grasp it with their own hands!

Psalm 50:14 Sacrifice thank-offerings to God, fulfil your vows to the Most High,
King David began to understand what God required, not by trial and error, but by listening to God through the prophets and his own life too.
God still requires input from us, no longer the prize bull or beautiful sheep, but something from our hearts.
God wants us to offer what we can to Him because we are thankful and want to…
What does that mean – stop and think what you can do for God because of what He has already done for you...

Psalm 85:12 The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest.
The Psalms were written as songs and poetry; a great way of remembering God’s Words!
The writer reminds us of how wonderful God is as He supplies our needs when we need it; but also supplies us ways in which we can help ourselves!
My prayers today go out to all our farmers who continue to get the best out of our land, trusting God for daily supplies!

Psalm 30:12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you for ever.
God gives us His peace and joy so we can enjoy worshipping Him. How difficult would it be to worship God if nothing changed in your life?
We should not be silent about the things God changes in our lives; no matter how big or small, we all have a story to tell.
If you are worried about talking to others, try telling them how you have changed – make it personal!

Matthew 18:6 ‘If anyone causes one of these little ones – those who believe in me – to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung round their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Do you see yourself as a tiny drop in the huge ocean which is our universe?
God sees you for who you are and what you can be; God knows what is the best direction for you to go forward in.
If someone puts you down and makes you feel any smaller than a beloved child of God, then step back and allow God to sort them out; don’t get caught up in petty squabbles.

Jeremiah 23:5 ‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.
God has given us every reason to be ready and prepared for what is ahead; but to be prepared, we have to listen!
Jeremiah told of the King who would come from the lineage of David, the King who would come to love and protect His people.
It was only those who were willing to listen and learn who were blessed to know this man, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Today, you can know Him too!

Psalm 80:3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.
When you feel like you are in the heat of the battle, remember God is right with you and supporting your every move.
You may not feel like it because everyone seems to be against you, or you may be working harder than you imagined you would ever be…
But God is your life-line, your support and your strength to continue fighting the temptations and the resistance.
Trust in Him, wholly!

Psalm 24:9 Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
For as long as we keep our gate shut, nobody can come in. For as long as we keep our hearts shut, nobody can come in!
It is difficult to come our of a relationship which ends in tears, but to experience all the good things of relationships, we do need to take chances now and again.
God is not asking us to take chances, He is asking us to trust in the truth, in Him...

Psalm 33:11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm for ever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Have you ever noticed how many of our plans fall flat? Even plans made by the biggest companies and richest people often fall flat!
But take a look at the plans laid down by God, no matter how tough and difficult the way was, those plans still succeeded!
God knows what is best for each of us and His plans for us are the right plans.
Let us stop fighting God’s plans and support them – things will go a lot quicker and smoother!

Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
How often do you praise God? Do you praise Him when you wake up, when you go to bed, when you’re walking down the street?
How about when you are doing your favourite activity? How about when you are getting carried away with something you love?
God needs to be number one in your life – this is what He asked for in the beginning and what Jesus reminded us of when He came to live with us.

Malachi 3:1 ‘I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,’ says the Lord Almighty.
Hundreds of years before Christ came, the prophets were telling of two people who would come; first the messenger who would come before Christ, and then Christ the Messiah.
These words were being told within families and in temples, preparing people for what was to come.
We can look back now and see how amazing these prophets were in telling us so clearly.
But, no matter how much we say, there is always going to be some people who doubt or refuse to believe; hold them close and open up the truth to them!

Psalm 89:21 My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him.
King David would always remember the words God spoke to him through the prophet Nathan; how He would always love David and continue to watch over him no matter what.
God has made the same promise to ever one of us through His Son Jesus Christ – the birth of whom we celebrate tomorrow!
Every day this year, remember what God has done for you and how much we must mean to Him – He allowed His Son to come to us in person!

How caught up in the Christmas rush have you been over the last few days?
Will you take some time out today to spend it with Christ, your Lord and Saviour; thanking Him for coming to be born with us and live with us.
Take the Joy He brings and keep it in your heart, working the good works He asks so others can see a new Hope in Christ.

When we accept Jesus into our lives with open hearts, we get a whole lot more than just a little peace and joy!
Following Christ and submitting to His ways leads us down paths which He has already set in front of us and the best ways forward in our lives.
Accept God’s guidance and live the life He wants for you. Give up on your stubborn ways and live fully in Christ’s arms.

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
What do you do with the Word of God? What do you do with the words you hear in church? What do you do with your bible?
God has given us His Word that we may take it, keep it deep in our hearts, allow it to encourage and guide us… and to share it with others!
It’s that last step, the sharing, we often forget and leave out...
