Acts 4:29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word
When the disciples went forward they did not go quietly! They upset a lot of people along the way because they refused to be shoved under the carpet.
The local law wanted them shut down because they were breaking the mold by refusing to follow the old religious ways.
They asked for boldness so they could speak out in the face of adversity; they acknowledged the chain of leadership in the world but knew they had to work for God and not man!

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
When Jesus told the eleven disciples who were left to go out and spread the Gospel, it was not a request to see if there were volunteers but a command for all of them!
Jesus wanted them to reach out to people who did not know Him, people who were confused about Him, people who wanted more of the truth; everyone.
They were told to expand Christ’s kingdom. What are you doing?

John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Before Christ came to be with us, the world was sinking into darker times. Not much is written about these times in the bible and our history books tell us of so much unrest during these years.
Have a look around you now and see the unrest in all walks of life. We are in an age where we are desperate for light in this dark world.
Just like then, we need to spread the good news of Christ so people can find hope in their seemingly hopeless lives.

John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
One thing many of us find hard to understand is just how Jesus could have been alive before the world was created and how He is alive today still.
Questioning God when you are trying to figure out what you should be doing is natural because you should be clear about what it is God is asking of you; but our faith should be in believing God and not trying to understand how He exists.
Is it not enough that He has done all of this for us; created a world, given us life, forgiven us when we asked and promised us life eternal?
Let Christ light up your life!

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Which laws do you follow and obey? Do you choose what to follow or are you open to following all the laws of the land?
I know there are many laws which are simply out of date and no longer applicable such as the still standing law in the UK “dying in the houses of parliament is illegal!”
God’s laws continue to be current and fruitful; what man has added is what we see when we complain.
Stick with what God has said and Jesus upheld!

1 John 3:23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
Of all the commandments God has given us, the two which stand out the most and of which we are reminded the most are these: We love God and we love each other.
Yes, it takes faith to love God. Yes, it takes grace to love each other. That is the whole point.
To have faith and to exercise grace continually; Christ continued to remind everyone of these simple steps to keep close to Him.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
One way people call tell you love someone by the way you listen to them and obey their requests.
God has not asked us to do things which are impossible or very hard for us to do.
Christ has already done the impossible for us and now asks us to simply obey His commands; show Him some love by obeying Him.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
When we get to see just how awesome God is and how much He cares for us, we should have no problem with loving Him for all He does for us.
But how much we love Him depends on how we see Him and how we see Jesus.
Jesus’ reminder for us is to love God with all our heart, soul and mind. That is an unconditional love with everything depending on Him and not us!

Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
Not only does God know everything and everyone, but He is able to and does judge people according to the absolute truth.
We look for people in our lives whom we can trust. We look for people we can depend on. We look for safety.
The bible shows us time and time again we have a God who is just and worthy of our praise. He continues to look out for us and judge us according to His perfect ways.

Micah 4:12 But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord, Nor do they understand His counsel; For He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
God does not think in the same way as we do. He is not limited to the way we think. And His thoughts are certainly not trapped by the same sin as ours are!
When God asks us to do something or say He will do something. We are not to limit His ways to our own thoughts because nothing is impossible through Him.
When God is ready, He will bring in the harvest and not us; we should just continue to try and tell others about Him.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God does not look at us as evil little things but with love and care so He can help us to have a brighter future with Him.
God wants peace in our lives; He knows we will be distraught and consumed if we always have grief and despair.
Continue to love the Lord your God like He loves you. Continue to look at Him as the Lord and Saviour He is to you.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
No single verse seems to give us the full meaning of how much God is with us in our everyday lives.
But as we gather together each verse and try to sum them all up in our minds, we being to find out how much we mean to Christ and how much He wants to be with us!
God is doing this all because He loves us. He is doing this all because He wants to!

Deuteronomy 20:4 for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’
Leave your fears behind you, don’t be fainthearted and tremble but go forward with Christ by your side!
God has tried to tell us how He is with us every step of the way; He has shown us physically through the example of Him being with the Hebrews as they went through the desert.
He has kept us safe and continues to keep us safe – yet we fail to believe fully and trust in His name.
Take a bold step forward and stay with Christ!

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Trusting in Christ must go beyond just wanting Him to explain His Word to us; it should be a dependence on Him in our lives.
Trusting on a chair means sitting on it believing it will hold you until you get up again – time and time again.
Trusting in Christ should mean believing He is willing and able to give you strength and understanding time and time again – every time we ask it of Him!

Matthew 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
Jesus declared Simon to be blessed, not because he had done anything special or had the scriptures explained to him by a Rabbi; but because he listened to God for the explanation!
When you meditate on God’s Word, always be ready for Him to explain it to you as well.
It is not what we can discern, or what others can teach us but how God is able to teach us that will truly bless us. Don’t just believe in Him but trust in Him for inspiration and revelation!

2 Corinthians 3:14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.
Don’t get upset when you think you do not understand the Bible or what others say about the Bible; throughout the scriptures there are many times when people just needed that extra bit of help in understanding what God wants to say to them.
We have friends, teachers and leaders who are willing and able to help us. Don’t be shy in asking for help or admitting you do not understand.
And that also means do not hold back from asking the Holy Spirit for understanding and discernment; He has promised to give us and we ought to wait on Him too.

Acts 9:18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.
Saul still did not see the whole purpose of the Gospel after his experience on the road to Damascus. It was only after Ananias prayed for him that his eyes were truly opened.
God is able to tell us everything we ought to know, but He wants us to hear it from people around us too.
God wants our trust, but He also wants our fellowship; that fellowship begins with being around people who know Him too.

Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’
This is what God told Paul on the road to Damascus. God gave Paul the command to open other people’s eyes and ears!
In the same manner Jesus has asked us to go out and spread the Gospel, the Good News. By doing so we are enabling others to see and hear the truth.
God wants to make sure we are all given the opportunity to hear His word and He wants our help to do this – people would rather believe their friends or people they know.
Start showing your friends how much you care about them!

Proverbs 20:12 The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The Lord has made them both.
Artists and artisans can depict and construct eyes and ears which look good enough to see and hear, but they cannot.
Scientists can construct robotic eyes and ears which they say can see and hear, but they are still nowhere near as good as the human counterparts in many aspects.
God gave us eyes to see and ears to hear. He made us in this very special way to have extraordinary senses which we can call on at any time.
He gave us these senses so we can expand our wisdom and get to know Him more each day. How do you use your senses?

Deuteronomy 29:3 the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders.
What do you do with the things other people tell you about God and the miracles He does? Do you ignore them because they did not happen to you? Do you ignore them because you think He does not do miracles anymore?
The people of Israel continued to show coldness of heart and they withdrew from God because of thoughts like these.
God continues to do miracles and wonders in our modern lives; man continues to be more afraid to accept God as the Lord Almighty who can and does do everything!
Trust God and all He can do – have faith He is still continuing with His promises!
