Psalm 10:1 Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

What happens when something big goes very wrong? The first thing is probably a feeling of being very alone all of a sudden.

Then the feelings of regret and guilt which you try desperately to hide!

Even though these are our first feelings which stay with us in those troubled times, they are not the reality!

God is with us and wants to guide us in every walk in life. If we are willing to stay with Him, we will not have such great feelings of loneliness, guilt and regret!

Psalm 12:7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us for ever from the wicked

So many people seem to focus on evil things in life because they imagine they can gain more for themselves...

God has put this world in place, balanced with everything so we can live in harmony with others.

God wants us to look out for the needy and stay away from the wicked – He has given this encouragement from the beginning of time!

We have the choice to follow God’s advice and live a better life, or get tied up in worldly greed and pride and ignore all which God tries to give us.

Proverbs 1:33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.’

It’s not knowing God which will keep you safe from harm, but listening to God which will!

The evil one knows God, but he does not listen to God – hence things go wrong all the time!

But, if we behave much like some of the great people in our bibles, we will be safer because we begin to see how much they listened to and obeyed God!

John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

When we show God how much we love Him, we experience the full loving relationship He wants with us.

How do we show God we love Him? How about inviting Him into your home...

What is God’s promise? To love us, no matter what. To come into our lives when we ask Him to – no matter what!

When Jesus was faced with a Pharisee who thought he knew all the rules and regulations (as well he may have because he was a learned Pharisee) He turned all the rules into two...

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.

And, you must love each other just as much...

This is the love Jesus showed us all by doing all He did before the whole world...

John 15:4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

We must always remember to walk close to God by staying close to the truth we know from our bibles and from the Holy Spirit.

If we remain close to God, He is able to keep us safer from the world around us than if we walk off and do our own things!

Trusting God sometimes means having to stop doing something we like because it is not helping others get to know God...

What are your earliest memories about stories from the bible?

Have you tried to tell someone else your favourite story?

Philip used what knowledge he had to teach someone who was willing to listen and learn!

You’ll be surprised at how many people do want to learn more about the bible and know virtually nothing... help them...

John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever

When Jesus explained He was not going to be with the disciples for much longer, He reassured them by saying He would ask God to bring someone who could be with them – always.

This being the third person in the God-Head. The Holy Spirit.

Whilst we cannot get our heads round this fact God is three separate parts, but one God – He does not want us to be left alone or confused by things.

Listen out for the Holy Spirit and He will give you enough understanding to live your life for God in faith!

Isaiah 32:2 Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

When we have someone in power who listen to God and follows His instruction, we have a country which is good to live in.

Alas, so many people are corrupted by power and leadership and stop listening to God; our land becomes like a dry desert, harsh to live in.

Allow God to guide you in everyday life, but always ask Him to guide our country’s leaders as well!

1 Samuel 16:11 So he asked Jesse, ‘Are these all the sons you have?’ ‘There is still the youngest,’ Jesse answered. ‘He is tending the sheep.’ Samuel said, ‘Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.’

What do you do when God asks you to do something? Do you start worrying? Do you try and get out of it? Do you try and hide?

We all have our faults, and we all have our shortcomings – God knows every part of us, but He may still ask us to do something we are not comfortable doing!

When God told Samuel to ask about the youngest son, his reaction was to sit and wait patiently because He knew what God wanted!

Psalms 2:11 Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.

These words penned to the rulers at that time are so relevant for our rulers nowadays where there is greed and corruption beyond our understanding in so many governments around the world.

God sees all and hears all and knows all – when we step out of line, we are doing it right in front of Him!

Think about what you are doing and only do what you think you would if God was standing next to you – He is!

Mark 16:15 He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

What does it mean to go out into the world and preach the gospel to all creation?

It does not necessarily mean standing on street corners and shouting to everyone in earshot – though this a valuable task done by the few brave preachers!

It means taking what is in your heart and sharing it with the world around you in ways you can do it; believe me there are so many more ways than standing up and teaching people with words!

God sees what comes from our hearts...

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

In this chapter Jesus reminds the people He is our Good Shepherd, not just another shepherd but the Good Shepherd.

What is the difference between a shepherd and a Good Shepherd? A Good Shepherd will be willing to put His life in danger just to be able to save His sheep.

Any other shepherd would stop at the point of putting his own life in danger just for a sheep... Jesus did not stop!

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

How much faith do you have? How much do you rely on Christ for things in your life?

If we are all honest, we have times of doubt and times where we lack faith – but God does not judge us on a per thought basis!

God looks deep in our hearts and the judgement will be done by Christ; the one who gave His life for us on the cross, our Advocate!

Put more trust and faith in Christ every day and live a better life with Him!

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.

God wants us to remember all the good things He does in our lives so we can shine in this dim and dusty world.

We have so many things to be thankful of and so many things to praise God about – if we think about these things we will shine!

Whatever we concentrate on, those are the things we will bring closer to our hearts and flood our lives with... if we are not thinking of good things, then we are flooding our lives with useless or doubtful things!

1 Peter 2:11 Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.

As Christians, we could say we live in a foreign land where the way of living does not quite match up with our standards...

Why then do we give in to the ways of the people around us and copy them instead of standing up to our own standards?

God wants us to live better lives, but also try to make sure we give other people around us better lives through the way we live.

Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

None of us has finished the ‘race’ to get to Heaven apart from those who has died and gone to be with Christ already.

We have our lives laid out in front of us and still have a whole lot to learn about God and of what Christ has already done for us – the example life He lived for us.

We do need to continue working toward being more like Jesus as we continue to live our lives just as He lived as a human being.

The closer we get the better things will be for everyone, not just us!

Luke 16:9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

Sometimes we get too tied up in what we are working for in life to see what real wealth is – money can buy many things here, but nothing in Heaven!

God wants us to focus on what we can do for others rather than how much wealth we can build up for ourselves.

God is looking at how we can live with others in heaven and not how much we can achieve here on earth.

Turn your eyes toward Heaven today!

John 20:30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.

When we look through the Gospels within the New Testament, we are amazed by the number of miracles and wonders Jesus did... and yet this apparently is a small sample of what He did!

If we can be encouraged by what we read, then just imagine the encouragement the disciples gained by watching Jesus do so much more.

Listen closely to what God is telling you through reading your bible, and have faith in knowing He can do so much more!
