Genesis 37:4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.
Because Israel loved Joseph, he made him an ornate robe which he gave to him. Joseph’s brothers were not pleased because they did not get their own robes and they took it out on Joseph!
Joseph had no control on whether he got the robe or not, so why did the brothers take it out on him?
Unfortunately feelings like greed and jealousy make up a major part of our lives and tend to take over when we least expect them to.
No matter what people give you, try to ensure God is by your side and allow people to see so!

Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
Have you ever got into trouble just because you listened to the wrong person? I think that defines much of my life!
God sent Jesus to live amongst us so we could see there is a different way of living than living for the world!
Jesus set the goalpost so we may be encouraged to reach out and live for God; His is the foundation we can live on and the love and faithfulness we can depend on – always!

1 Corinthians 10:9 We should not test Christ, as some of them did – and were killed by snakes.
God does not go out and kill people because they test Him; He is just and He has more mercy that we can imagine, but He is just!
If we turn to the world when God is asking us to turn to Him, we are demonstrating to Him we have more faith in the world than in Him.
We should expect what the world can give us and nothing more if we follow the worldly ways.
Follow God’s ways and expect a whole lot more!

Psalm 43:3 Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.
What sort of attitude do you really have toward God? Think about it a while before trying to answer!
Do you spend a certain amount of time with Him each week, or each month?
Do you go out of your way to do things for others and volunteer for things in your life?
Do you invite God into everything you do with your life – every day – always?

Matthew 18:35 ‘This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.’
How do you know you are doing good? Do you measure what you do with what others are doing?
Jesus wants us to not think about any measurements when loving. He wants us to simply open our hearts.
God loves us more than we can understand. Jesus showed us love beyond measure through what He did.
Open you heart and allow the love to flow without measure!

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
What do you do about your sins? Do you just shrug them off and move on because Jesus said He paid for them?
Do you remember them and find it hard to put them aside?
Jesus wants us to remember the sins for as long as it takes to try and move away from repeating them.
If we don’t think about the sins we do, we will never be able to allow Christ to take on those sins permanently!

Psalm 85:4 Restore us again, God our Saviour, and put away your displeasure towards us.
How often do you get angry with people when they do not listen to your advice? How often do you get upset when you don’t agree with the advice others give you?
God is constantly trying to give us good advice so we can have a better life, one more in line with what He has planned for us…
If we are willing to listen to the good advice and obey God, we are going to see the bright future because God will only give you the best advice!

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
I know we are told not to tempt God especially with verses like those describing how Jesus was tempted by Satan, but these words come long before Jesus was living amongst us in human form.
Ahaz was adamant he would not tempt God, so God told Isaiah he should tell Ahaz a sign would be shown; one which could not be ignored!
God will go out of His way to allow us to know the truth; do we dare to listen?

Psalm 51:15 Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.
How many times have you not told people about God this week? Maybe because you were feeling down or because you were scared…
Sometimes we need a little push to help us to open our mouths and hearts so others can see how much we get from God!
Ask God to open your heart and you mouth to the people around you in ways which will glorify God.
Help others to see how awesome God is!

2 Corinthians 5:16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
When we take a single verse like this we can be forgiven for not understanding it, no matter which translation of the bible we use!
It can be hard to understand the scriptures unless we have someone explain them to us – which is what we should be doing with others too.
Don’t try to explain Christ in terms of human relationships or ways; He is the Son of God and we need to see Him as such!

John 4:48 ‘Unless you people see signs and wonders,’ Jesus told him, ‘you will never believe.’
Are you trapped inside this earthly cupboard where you believe you cannot escape because you have not seen the power of God with your own eyes?
Will you be able to take a small step forward in faith instead of having to witness things with your own eyes?
God knows He could perform a miracle so you will believe, but He would rather you take a leap of faith and trust Him before you have to see the physical proof.
Spiritual proof seems far more valuable to me!

John 5:11 But he replied, ‘The man who made me well said to me, “Pick up your mat and walk.”’
When you think about what God would say to you – what do you think of? Do you think of the grand quest He will send you on? Do you think of the mighty feat He will ask of you?
God does not want us all to be superheroes. He wants us to be humble and willing to obey – simple!
Jesus’ command to the man was simple “Pick up your mat and walk!”
Listen to what God is saying and not what you are dreaming of!

Isaiah 49:13 Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
God does not always speak through the thunderstorm and earthquakes in life, sometimes He will whisper something in your ear.
When we do submit to the Lord, He is willing and able to comfort us in ways which we cannot understand or think of; but He does!
The lord is always watching over us and wants to protect and comfort us all the time; be patient and wait...

John 5:43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.
How easily do you believe someone when they tell you things? How much persuasion does it take before you give in?
Jesus hit the nail on the head by telling people they would believe others when they stand up and talk about themselves, but many still do not believe Jesus who stood up for them.
Faith is believing in the unseen – believing Jesus came to give His life in our stead, just because He loves us so!

Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
When was the last time you cried out to God and actually placed your trust in Him to answer your prayers?
I know it can be very hard to trust someone when you think your are in a corner with no way out – but God is able to do more than we know.
He is not just able to do the impossible, but He is willing to do so because we cry out to Him!

Psalm 7:1 Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
Are you willing to put your life in the hands of another person? Do you go to the front line as soon as there is a war on?
Jesus does not require us all to be martyrs or heroes; He does require faith and trust from us.
Will you step forward and ask Christ to be your shield?

Isaiah 43:18 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
How often do you look forward to good times when you are upset about something? How often can you smile when you are sad?
God wants to be able to get us smiling at all times, not because we must ignore the sad times, but because we can look forward to the good times.
It is right to be upset during sad times, but when it is right we should put those times behind us and focus on the new things ahead with God.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
How far does your faith stretch? Has it been stretched to breaking point lately with all the things happening in the world today?
This Psalm was written by someone who had their own ups and downs with God, but someone who always came back to God and knew in his heart God would always be there.
Take these words to heart. Believe them. Follow their example. Trust in God!

John 8:21 Once more Jesus said to them, ‘I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.’
What would you do if someone said you were going to die in a war in two days time?
God wants us to make peace with Him and to ensure we believe in everything Jesus has done for us – otherwise we may well have to put up with the consequences of our sins.
Invite Christ into your life and live a life with Him every day to make sure you get to live with Him in Heaven one day!

John 8:42 Jesus said to them, ‘If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me.
Have you ever been told “if you loved me you wouldn’t do that!” or similar words?
I think most of us would relate to something like this because we have all done something wrong against someone we love, be it big or small.
God’s love for us goes beyond what our love can imagine. He continues to uphold His love despite our wrongdoings.
Just stop and love God openly!
