Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
When God spoke to Joshua it was to remind Him of the power and strength God would supply for all of Israel.
If we are willing to walk close to God, He is willing to watch over us every step of the way, keeping us strong and protected.
Trust in God and He will make sure you are safe from the evil of the world.

Psalm 66:16 Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.
How often do you tell people what God has done or is doing in your life?
We need to be honest and open with others about all the things God does – because this will encourage others to trust in Him more.
Talk about God. Sing about God. Pray openly. Worship openly!

Joshua 3:7 And the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so that they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses.’
When God chooses you, He is doing so because He knows what you are capable of.
When you are chosen by God, you become different to the people around you because He does things differently for you.
When people notice you are different, it’s because God has chosen you to be different because He knew you from the beginning!

Psalm 136:17 to him who struck down great kings, His love endures for ever.
We can look back through our Old Testament and wonder how God could allow things to happen; but in order to understand why, we have to find out the reasons behind the stories.
God gave people plenty of warnings and explained the consequences if they continued to do things wrong... Mankind chose to continue to do things wrong!
Natural disasters happen to everyone; but people disobeying God constantly are inviting more to happen to themselves!

Psalm 16:7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
How many times have you had nightmares? How many times have you woken up sweating about something which is not real?
We know in our hearts what is good and wholesome and yet we still have nightmares or bad dreams – because we do not always cling to the hope we have in Christ.
Stop for a moment and think of the amazing hope we have in Christ!

Luke 1:48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,
Jesus was in the habit of reaching out to people when they were most in need – He was following in God’s footsteps!
God wants us to have the best and most blessed lives we can – to do this we need to be close to Him at all times.
To get close to God we need to humble ourselves and approach Him with open hearts and spirits.

Psalm 106:37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.
How many times have you given in to something you should not have and it has affected your family?
When we do things wrong or sin against God, we are not just affecting ourselves but affecting God and the people around us.
Stop and think of the consequences before embarking on your next wander down the wrong path!

Psalm 85:7 Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation.
What does it take before you listen to God? Do you have to be told the same thing over and over again? How many messengers will God have to send your way before you listen?
God wants us to be good and faithful servant – that means stopping and listening to Him!
Stopping from being so involved with the world we take no notice of Him! Start taking more notice of Him and less of the world!

Judges 9:15 ‘The thorn-bush said to the trees, “If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thorn-bush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!”
God has given us many warning about choosing leaders, and yet we seem to get it wrong so many times (mankind that is.)
We can look back at so many leaders who were chosen who have run countries into the ground or have done wicked and evil deeds – yet so many of them were voted into power!
We must be careful what we ask God for, because God will grant our prayers!

Psalm 40:4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
Where do you look for blessings? May sound a silly question, but many times we look to worldly things to gain so called blessings instead of looking to God!
When we turn our back on God to follow other things, we should not expect God to bend the rules just so we can gain a few blessings!
Always look to God. Always seek His blessings through your worship for Him.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
When the Pharisees tried to trick Jesus into mistakes, they always got the truth told back to them which gave them things to think about!
Jesus told them the greatest commandment was to love God with everything we have!
We need to set aside our love for worldly things and give God a bit more praise – that way we get closer to loving Him with everything!

Psalm 128:1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.
To fear the Lord does not necessarily mean to tremble at the sound of His voice of command.
To fear God means to have absolute respect and love for God.
When we truly love and respect God, we listen to His commandments, and we try to obey them.
Blessings come from listening to others and obeying what they are encouraging – God is pleased when we do listen and obey.

John 6:57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
When Jesus was trying to explain how important it was He should give His life for each of us, He needed to say it many different ways!
Never before had anyone stood up and said everything depended on them – but if He just said that, the disciples may not have believed Him!
God sent Jesus who lived for God. Jesus sent the disciples who lived for Jesus. So should we!

Mark 6:49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out,
What will it take you to truly believe from the bottom of your heart God is looking out for you?
Sometimes we do lose track of how much God does for us and because of that our faith is not as firm and full as it should be.
The disciples needed a jolt and Christ gave it to them. Do you really need to have things happen in your life before you believe all you see and read about from your bibles?

Acts 5:14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.
When the disciple went forward as true servants of Christ, they stood by their faith and believed God would answer their prayers.
They did not wish to riches or wealth, but for people to get to know their special relationship they had with Christ.
God was pleased with them and stood by their prayers, healing the sick and blessing the poor.

Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.
Wisdom comes to those who seek it diligently; as we seek out knowledge and meditate on it, we grow in wisdom.
God has given us a mind which is far more discerning than any other creature – this is why He gave us dominion over everything.
How we treat everything is a direct measure of the wisdom, or lack of wisdom we are gaining.

Proverbs 20:4 Sluggards do not plough in season; so at harvest time they look but find nothing.
I'm afraid I am guilty of putting things off when I don't want to be bothered with the hard work which goes with the task I'm avoiding!
This reminder is to all of us to do the work when it has to be done and not leaving things until the next day, week or whenever.
Jesus did not put things off unless He knew they needed to be delayed; follow Christ's example and get things done here and now!

Proverbs 22:2 Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all.
No matter how you try to split the world up; be in by race, colour, creed, location, sex, whatever... God is our maker!
He created each one of us and so we are all His children in one way or another.
We have the choice as to whether we accept this and ask Him to be our Father, or ignore it and try do things by ourselves in this corrupt world!

Psalms 98:1 Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
When was the last time you thanked God for what He is doing in your life... I mean, really thanked Him!
Sometimes we just get to say the words and don't get to feel it in our hearts – so stop for a moment and give God the glory for what He is doing in your life now.
God has done everything in a just and holy way. We don't always see it because we are too constrained by the deceitful ways of the world.
Open your eyes and heart to see all He is doing.

Deuteronomy 4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.
When Moses had to give the people explanations from God as to what to do, He was given very strict instructions which had to be explained in full – and remembered.
Nowadays we have this all written down in our Bibles so we can refer back to things all the time with ease... and we also have a new way of life!
Back then the instructions were strict because the people had to change their ways and learn to live for God.
We now have this all as examples for us to live by – don't ignore it!
