Psalm 42:8 By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me – a prayer to the God of my life.
When we are busy doing things in church, talking to other Christians and generally doing stuff with God’s people, you will notice how much He does for us...
But when you are in bed alone at night, how much are you going to see?
If we spend time meditating on what God has done for us, going back over all the things He has supplied us with and saved us from, we will see so much more!

Psalm 41:4 I said, ‘Have mercy on me, Lord; heal me, for I have sinned against you.’
How often do you admit to doing wrong? I know none of us like to have to admit we have done wrong, but God wants us to be honest and open!
When we have done something wrong, or sinned against Him, we should be willing to admit to what we have done and to ask for forgiveness.
When we can set aside the guilt of what we have done, we can move forward with confidence knowing God is with us!

Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
How many things do you ask God for? How many of those things do you actually need?
Jesus said we need to be content with what we have, but He also said we can ask God for anything.
God loves us more than we can fully understand – this is why He allowed Christ to be our Saviour once and for all.
Christ has reminded us to ask anything of God through Him, so He can plead on our behalf.

Psalm 27:10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.
Does this seem a bit harsh? Well, most of us will get to see our parents pass away before we do – basic statistics.
It is no fault of our parents that they die before us, yet they do leave us alone in the world when they do die; it can be a very sad time.
But we can get our greatest comfort from knowing God will never leave us – He cannot die because He lives eternally.
What better person to rely on than our God!

Psalm 145:8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
How often do you do things wrong and someone shouts at you or doesn’t talk to you?
I know I get things wrong a lot of the time, and some would say it’s because I’m a man! No matter, we all get things wrong from time to time.
God has shown mankind love and compassion above and beyond what we deserve!
God knows what we are live – yet He still is willing to love and support us!

Mark 7:23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person
Have you ever been told you should not go to a certain place or talk to some people because they are not Christians?
I know I have, and I know I have passed on those type of sentiments in the past!
Jesus clearly showed us God’s ways by meeting with everyone who was willing to listen!
We need to extend the love of God out to every person who is willing to listen – this can be hard!

Psalm 6:6 I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
Are you honest with you problems or are you trying to hide them as best you can?
I know I tend to try and hide my problems in fear of others finding out and blaming me for doing something wrong!
We all make mistakes at times – but sometimes bad things happen even when we don’t make mistakes – life just happens around us!
Lift up your concerns to God and allow Him to comfort you!

Psalms 7:10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.
Have you ever wondered how people survived without airbags in their cars when they had accidents?
We have so many safety features in our lives which we take for granted nowadays because they have been around for a long time...
God has been around even longer and some people don’t understand what it is about God which saves us and from what!
God looks inside our hearts and does things according to what He knows about us – not what the world thinks they deserve!

Romans 3:9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.
You cannot say you will be free from temptation just because you are a Christian or Jew or whatever!
We are all open to temptations and we all sin at some stage in our lives.
God wants us to know, however, we all live under His grace and mercy – He is faithful to show us His love no matter what!

Matthew 25:11 Later the others also came. “Lord, Lord,” they said, “open the door for us!”
When was the first time you heard the gospel? Was it in a church or from a friend?
After hearing the gospel, how long did it take before you prayed for the first time? How often do you pray nowadays?
We are only on this world for a very limited time in comparison to the age of the world or universe – we need to use the time well, with God!

Psalm 34:6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
God hears every person who calls out to Him no matter what the circumstance and not matter what time it is!
We like to turn off at night and not listen to everything like we do during the day time – God has other plans.
When we learn more about God we begin to realise how much He cares for us and this care not only lasts forever, but is constant, 24/7!

John 6:33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
Somehow I don’t think the people listening to Jesus during this meeting got it... Jesus is the Bread of Life!
We can look back on everything and understand what is meant by Jesus being the bread of life – but they were still too caught up in the world to understand this!
God wants us to know Him and to know Jesus as our Lord and Saviour – the true bread of life!

John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
Can you imagine what went through some of these people’s heads when they heard Jesus say these words?
We may find it hard to believe some of the things in our bibles or what people tell us, but the more we trust in Christ and the more we see what he can do, the more we will believe!
Don’t let the doubts of the world hold you back from a life with Christ – Jump into His arms and trust His guidance now.

Numbers 12:11 and he said to Moses, ‘Please, my lord, I ask you not to hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed.
When Aaron and Miriam talked badly about Moses, God heard them and confronted them with the truth.
Aaron had to admit to what he had done and upon seeing what happened to Miriam, begged Moses to forgive them for talking bad about him.
Moses did the right thing and forgave them, calling on God to heal Miriam.
This is what Jesus teaches us too – when we sin against someone, confront them and ask for forgiveness, When someone begs for forgiveness, forgive them – asking God for help!

Psalm 106:14 In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.
How often do you give in to temptations around you? Do you feel God stops listening to you because you have caved in to them?
God continues to listen to our prayers, no matter what! We may annoy Him at times when we give in to things and run off to do our own stuff, but He is always listening and waiting!
Try not to give in but ask Him for strength to try and avoid the temptations in the beginning before you get there!

Matthew 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
What is going to be your legacy when you die? Will you be known as a Christian, or just some other person, famous or not?
We may be able to show people how extraordinary we may be, like the amazing athletes during this Olympic games, but what do you know about their relationship with Christ?
God wants us to glorify Him in everything we do and that will build up the kingdom of Christ more than anything else!

Psalm 97:7 All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols – worship him, all you gods!
I struggle to understand how people can worship statues or build shrines around statues when they are not of God or Christ; but that is probably because I am in a relationship with Christ...
For someone who knows little else about God, having a deity of some description is a tempting proposition because we all have this built in feeling there is more to life than just living...
Be bold and worship Christ to show others how wonderful it is to have Him in your life!

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
How do you look at Christ? Do you see Him as a deity who is far away from life – or someone who is walking by your side?
God wants us to know The Holy Spirit is with us at all times and is someone we can call on for anything and everything.
The Lord should be our first and last port of call for everything in our lives. He has offered Himself for us and we should accept Him whole heartedly!

John 6:40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
How many times did Jesus have to tell this same story to the disciples and to the people around them before they believed.
Well, this time Jesus was explaining things, the Jews did not want to believe because they took it literally they should eat Jesus’ flesh!
Try to help people understand who Christ is and how He can be the Bread of Life today!

How did you get to know of the great things God can do in your life? How did you get to experience them?
If nobody told us about God and nobody opened up His Word to us, how would we learn?
Share a bit of God today. Share a bit of encouragement. Share a bit of hope.
