1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
I can remember always wanting to be older as a child and now wanting to be younger as an adult! We all change. We grow up and we grow old.
What we take with us is what forms us and normally shows on the outside. If we take love with us, it will show on the outside and not just inside.
Each day, we should be taking in what we see and hear and learning from it; exposing yourself to more of Christ will help you in your spiritual journey and growth.

1 Samuel 3:8 A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy.
How many times do we ignore the call of God just because we don’t understand where it is coming from?
How many times do we get involved and tell other people how they should hear from God?
It is a personal interaction between you and God; nobody else can tell you what to do other than to be still and listen to God.
So, try it, be still and listen out for God calling you!

Luke 17:28 It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
The world continues on doing stuff no matter what else happens. Nothing you do is going to stop the world from carrying on carrying on!
But God can stop things and God can re-start things! He is in control of this world we live in!
It is good to remember just who is the one in charge and to submit to Him, not just when we are in a tight spot, but always.
Live your life with the one in control and you may well find more thing happen the way they ought to rather than fall apart at the seams!

Job 22:15 Will you keep to the old path that the wicked have trod?
Our bibles lay down the wicked things people have done; not to highlight them but to show they come to no good!
God cannot ignore the evil because it stands for everything He does not like. He cannot abide evil!
Just because something is there does not mean we have to have a go and see what it is like. I know the temptation is there, but still, we don’t have to!
Learn from other people’s mistakes and you will not have to go through all the ‘hell’ they had to go through when they did things wrong!

2 Peter 2:5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
God has had some pretty hard choices to make but has always done the right thing; some people may choose to disagree!
We tend to try and ignore difficult choices just so we can have an easier life, but things tend to go wrong and those bad choices catch up with us.
God is just and faithful, always sticking to the truth and always trying to show mercy where He can.
Are we giving Him a choice or tempting Him with destruction?

Acts 1:25 to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.
Just as an aside, how do you look at Judas Iscariot? Do you see him as a man taken by the devil or one who chose evil?
Each of us have a choice to make, whether we follow good or evil. It is our choice!
We are given so many chances in life to know the difference between good and evil, so the choice is real and is informed!
Judas Iscariot chose the path of evil. Some will say he got what he deserved; he got what he chose…

Matthew 10:4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
Do yourself a favour and read the previous 3 verses in your bible and look again at this last bit of the sentence…
Jesus called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over impure spirits and disease and sickness. Twelve disciples, not eleven.
Judas may have done wrong, may have been a zealot, may have been all manner of things… but Christ handed out what He had promised to each of them!
God is Just. God is Faithful. God is Holy. God is full of mercy!

Acts 22:3 I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.
Paul stood up and told the people around him a plain truth – he had learned the Jewish law and ways, even studied them, and kept them!
Yet what did it count as? Nothing!
Sometimes we build up the law and extend the rules just so we can look better than others.
Don’t forget. God made the original law. Don’t even think about comparing yourself to Him!

Hebrews 10:26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left
If we went back to offering sacrifices for our sins, just how far would you go to find a perfect lamb to offer as a sacrifice to get rid of all your sins?
What happens then when you go back and do those same sins again? What do you look for next?
Don’t make Christ’s death on the cross of no consequence! Try to do what is right by trying to obey God – that is all He is asking…
He knows we are not perfect – we just need to try.

1 Corinthians 10:22 Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
When was the last time you tried to make someone jealous, someone who was much bigger or stronger than you?
I can remember doing things like that at boarding school and then paying for it afterward as they got their own back on me!
God is much bigger than we can imagine or wonder at – don’t ever think you can make Him jealous without repercussions!
But, even after that, God still loves you!

1 Kings 11:8 He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices to their gods.
What do you think is the most likely thing which will take you away from worshipping God? For me it would probably be the same as Solomon, being in a relationship with someone who was not a Christian!
Solomon had many wives and some of those during his later life were women from other places, foreigners, who believed in their own gods.
Falling into line with the one person who seems to mean a lot to you at that time is not so wise when it takes you away from God.
Always try and make sure God is in the relationship with you!

Judges 10:6 Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord. They served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites and the gods of the Philistines. And because the Israelites forsook the Lord and no longer served him
We can look back at the people of Israel and blame them for not following God and running after the gods of the people around them, but we do the same!
We may not be running after the Baals and the Ashtoreths of that time, but we do run after the ones of our own time!
What am I talking about? Anything which takes us away from God and drives a wedge between us and God almighty!
Don’t give in to the temptations because that is exactly what they are – nothing more than temptations!

Psalm 78:58 They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.
And yet, even through all of this as God looked after His people and protected them, they felt the need to complain about their lot!
We do like to think we should get more than we deserve, or we deserve more than we get – but God is the one who knows exactly what we need.
If He gave us what we deserve, we would be in deep trouble! Instead He continues to look after us; but He does get jealous when we run after other things instead of Him!

Psalm 78:52 But he brought his people out like a flock; He led them like sheep through the wilderness.
The preceding verses tell of all the plagues God sent on the Egyptians and through this all, God looked after the Israelites like they were His own flock of sheep.
The years that followed were done so with God keeping the whole of His people safe, not just the ones who did not complain, everyone.
He stopped them from being split up and getting lost. He provided their food every single day. He loved them as He loves His own.
We are His own!

1 Samuel 4:8 We’re doomed! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? They are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.
Can you imagine the scene – the Philistines have defeated Israel in a battle and they are feeling great! Then they hear this mighty roar as the Ark of The Covenant is brought into the camp of Israel… and their courage just walks out the door!
They know the stories. They know how great God is. They know they need to be afraid – even though they had just won a battle!
God needs to be that great in your life, not just when you need Him because everything is going to pot, but always and forever!

Psalm 96:4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods.
Does this mean there are other gods? People create gods for themselves all the time, gods they can deal with and gods they can bend the rules with.
There is only one God and that is God our Father in heaven – but we each have our little things we hold up as if they were gods and treat them better than we do our God in heaven!
Don’t allow the world to confuse you or persuade you there are other gods who are great. Only one God is Great! Worship Him with all your heart and mind and soul!

Psalm 145:3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.
When we describe someone as being great, we normally mean they are great in a particular manner or way; great with money, great with love, great with hugs, great with remembering things…
When we say God is great it is because He is great in every way! Great in wisdom, power, faithfulness, holiness, grace, goodness, mercy – the list goes on!
When we look at what God has done we begin to see we cannot really grasp just how great He is.
Just accept it and know that He is your God!

Romans 11:35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?”
When we receive a gift, we should not expect to have to repay the giver for giving us that gift.
Just the same, we should not expect to receive anything back when we are giving someone else a gift.
God gives us more than we deserve and expects nothing back for those gifts – but He does expect us to acknowledge Him as our Saviour and King.
Lift up Christ today as your Lord and Saviour, not because you need anything, just because He deserves it!

Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;
Everything we see, hear, touch, smell… everything belongs to God!
He created us and this universe we live in. How do I know? I trust His Word and believe in His ability!
If God is able to do so much for us in the beginning, then why do we doubt Him when it comes down to the more personal issues we face in life?
God is here for us. God loves us. God gave His all for us! Believe and trust Him!

Matthew 8:20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
If we think we cannot cope, then how could all the apostles and even Jesus cope with this – not having a place to call home?
Jesus knew, during His time of ministering to the people, He had to be amongst the people and sharing everything with them.
Are you willing to give your life up and go somewhere to share your life with the people around you?
Jesus wants disciples – disciples go out into the world!
