Psalm 33:16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
No matter how much I am able to do on computers and how much the global internet can do together – none of that will get us into heaven!
No king or queen stayed in power for too long when they were not wanted by the people; some dictators may rule for a long time, but the truth brings them down.
God is the truth and God has ultimate power over everything and everyone; He also has the power to answer your prayers!

Psalm 44:6 I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory;
What do you really trust in life? I’m not talking about everyday objects like chairs but rather the tools you may use in your life to accomplish your goals.
I use computers for just about everything I do, but I always ask God for guidance in sorting things out – I know Jesus did not have computers when He was on earth, but God does know more than we think!
Using spiritual weapons is far more powerful than any earthly weapon we may choose, so back up your life with God’s guidance!

Acts 27:44 The rest were to get there on planks or on other pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land safely.
When Paul was put on a ship to Rome, they would never have thought they would be caught up in a terrible storm; but when they did, they never thought they would get out alive – such was the storm.
We may face all manner of things in our own lives, but if we are willing to place our faith in Christ and listen to what He wants, we too will be able to ride out many a storm, just as the centurions, prisoners and Paul did in this story.

James 3:3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.
Little things can make very big differences in this world – just like guiding a horse with a bit and tackle, or steering a boat with a rudder…
God may have made a huge universe and placed the earth in an inconspicuous place in one of the galaxies, but we are here to make a very big difference!
God entrusted this world in our hands, knowing we would eventually want to get in space crafts and fly off to other parts; we are making a huge difference – but He still gives us the opportunity!

Job 26:7 He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.
One of the most amazing things I find it the earth is mostly covered in water, and yet the water does not fly off or tip over the edge!
The earth itself is a great big ball floating in space and the water is clinging to it – held together by forces we are still getting to understand.
When a person in space spills some water, it clings to itself and forms a ball which floats in the spacecraft (assuming there is no gravity).
God has done some pretty amazing things with this universe!

Proverbs 8:29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
Have you ever watched sand when it comes into contact with water- it seems to melt and flows away – yet God makes sure the oceans do not wash away our continents!
I know we do have serious coastal erosion in parts of the world, but the continents have been around for a very long time and will continue to be so.
God’s promises are just the same – they may seem to melt away in some people’s minds, but they have been there for a very long time and will continue to be there!

Luke 8:25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
When we talk about faith, what do we cover? If you are only thinking about the faith you need to love Christ, then you may be selling yourself short!
Our faith has to cover many aspects of our relationship with God, Christ and the Holy Spirit; but it also has to cover the belief in what God can do.
God can do anything! We need to trust He can, believe He can and hope He will do so with and for us what we ask.
Don’t sit there and question whether or why – just do it!

Luke 12:28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!
How often do you think about how much your parents or partner loves you? How often do you think about how much God loves you?
I bet the answer is “too little!”
We do need to stop and think about just how much God does love us because it is so easy to forget about that fact when we are living in a world where so many things go wrong, or not according to plan!
No matter what happens in this world, God knows each one of us inside out and loves us more than we can imagine – that love is faithful, strong and eternal!

Hebrews 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
God accepted the blood from clean sacrifices to atone for sins in the past; it was a purposeful commitment from the people to God.
When Jesus came, He did not limit the sacrifices to the blood of clean animals but offered up His own blood instead.
Jesus’ blood means so much more to God than any animal or any other sacrifice – that means our sins are well and truly paid for; cleansing us to our very souls rather than the sins of the moment.

Exodus 24:8 Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”
When Moses read out all the laws he had written down from God, the people agreed to follow those rules and made sacrifices to show their commitment.
Moses took some of the blood from the sacrifices and splashed it over the people to remind them they were the ones making the commitment to God.
We cannot expect a priest or church leader to do everything so we can run off and do our own stuff; God wants faithful followers.

Matthew 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Not only was Christ reminding the disciples of the blood which was shed for the forgiveness of sins, but He was talking of the blood which was still to be shed – His blood.
Christ was laying down a new promise which he was going to keep – His blood was going to be shed once and for all for all sin and not just for the sin of the people around the table!
Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice who had known no sin and willingly gave Himself to cover all of our sins.

1 Corinthians 10:16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?
It does not really matter how many times a month or year you take communion or participate in mass… what matters is what the act of communion means to you.
If you just go along because it is something you were told to do once a week or once a month, then why are you doing it?
If you go along to make someone else happy, then why are you doing it?
If you set aside the time to bring to memory all Christ has done for you and has promised, then maybe you are on the right track.

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
When we can put aside the hatred of others or the promotion of self and begin to live our lives with Christ, then we can start to focus on what is important in our lives.
Without Christ in our lives, we fall very short of the mark, but with Him, we have the Holy Spirit residing within us who is willing and able to help us deliver on Christ’s promises.
Live with Christ, depend on Him and trust in Him for everything.

Colossians 3:11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
One thing many of us get caught up in during our early lives is racism or sexism in some way.
Jesus came to be with the Jews because they were God’s chosen people; but the message He gave to everyone was not just aimed at the Jews but all people!
Jesus wants us to be the same to all people, no matter what standing in life, what sex, what race, what age, whatever!
Be more like Jesus and share the gospel with all people!

Deuteronomy 8:2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.
When you are going through things which you do not expect in your life – stop and think about what you can get out of it?
Our gut reaction is normally to object, complain and cause some sort of chaos when things go wrong…
Why would God allow something like this in your life unless He knew it was, in some way, going to improve you?
Allow God to work fully and freely in your life and praise Him every step of the way!

Psalm 17:3 Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed.
God is the only one who searches our hearts and all we do, say, think and expect; but He does it because of His love for us and not because He is like a policeman waiting for us to do something wrong!
When everything is quiet at night and you are alone with God, what is going through your head and your heart?
When you are out and about with friends, what is going through your mind and in your heart?
When you get angry because things do not go your way, what comes out of your mouth?
Make sure God is in everything you do – don’t leave Him behind in anything!

Proverbs 24:12 If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?
God knows the situation we are in and the lives we lead. He knows if we do have an excuse for not knowing about Him or whether we have chosen to ignore the truth and pretend we don’t know things.
We may be able to get away with things in our lives because we tell people we did not know the truth, but God actually does know if we are telling lies.
Yes, it is a lie to pretend to not know something when you do know it!

Psalm 82:4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
We are the ones who are here at this time and we are the ones who see the injustice which is going on – unless we help the weak and needy, we are not helping God’s people!
It is not up to the lawyers who sit in the courts presiding over the cases they do- they can only do their part for the cases they see. We live out with the people and it is up to us to make the difference.
“Be the change” means more than just sorting out the physical things in life – it means helping those who are in need to make a difference in their lives!

Exodus 23:5 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it.
Let’s bring this screaming into the modern age… If you see someone who hates you and they have broken down with a car full of shopping, will you stop and help them out?
Kinda brings on a new meaning when we make it all about our modern age – we do tend to ignore people on the other side of the road, ignore them because they have a different car, or just ignore them anyway!
God asked us to be friends with people, to love people and to share with people – right from the beginning!
Isn’t it time we started to listen!

Galatians 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.
When Jesus was here on earth He reminded the disciples and those around about how they should be sharing in each other’s troubles in life – sharing our burdens.
Life does seem a whole lot more bearable when there is someone else to walk through the difficult times with you – even if you don’t think you want the help or support!
God knows we do need each other and knows who is best to be there for us; we need to open up and share in our burdens to show Him we are listening to and obeying Him!
